Your Opportunity
We are looking for an Architectural Designer in our Austin office. This role will work with general guidance and direction from a Project Manager or Project Architect. Coordination with project team, consultants, contractors, and Owners can be a part of your weekly activities to manage projects. Along with your Project Manager or Project Architect, you may support multiple projects at any time, within various phases of design and construction.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Supports project teams in development of design documentation.
- Assists in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
- Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
- Participates in design critiques and pin-ups.
- Interprets and applies building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
- Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details.
- Coordinates building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
- Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports, and other contract administration tasks.
- Coordination of specs with construction documents.
- Assists in the evaluation and selection of building systems and materials.
- Attends project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
- Participates in value engineering and basic cost estimating.
- Implements sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment.
- Assists in site analysis, research of concept, benchmarks, typology, and precedents.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Basic knowledge and application of accessibility codes and applicable building codes.
- Basic knowledge of building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards is expected.
- Basic understanding of all phases of architectural document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Desire to collaborate in one (or more) of the following markets: Healthcare, Civic, Aviation, Commercial, S&T, Advanced Manufacturing, and Mission Critical
- Ability to conduct space planning, block planning, and adjacencies in coordination with building program.
- To develop floor plans, wall sections, and details.
- To check own work for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- To participate and collaborate in a project team setting through all phases of architectural document production.
- To engage in creative and critical thought. To hand sketch and communicate concepts and ideas to others effectively.
- To interpret sketches, drawings, building program and other similar material. To communicate abstract ideas (verbal/written)
- Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit; Prefer experience with Abobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, and Newforma.
Education and Experience
- Master's degree in Architecture or bachelor's degree in support of licensure criteria.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Registered Architect or actively pursuing licensure.

Your Opportunity
Join a Top 10 global design firm in our multi-sector Buildings practice that provides Architecture, Buildings Engineering, and Interior Design services with a long history and deep commitment to the Commercial, Industrial, Healthcare, and Science & Technology sectors. We are seeking an Architectural Designer to join our buildings practice.
You will work on tasks under the guidance of a Senior Designer or Architect.
Licensure is not required but it is expected to be part of your short-term goals.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Keeps the Project Manager informed of progress on expectations, deadlines, and deliverables that fall within their responsibility. Participate in team meetings, charrettes and coordination sessions.
- Assists in monitoring and coordination of consultant work and deadlines.
- Assist project teams in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
- Utilize Autodesk Revit and other BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
- Prepare and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections, and details.
- Coordinate building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
- Assist in contract administration tasks.
- Attend project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants.
- Implement sustainable design principles into the building design and surrounding environment.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Capable of simultaneously supporting multiple Project Managers on multiple projects.
- General understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards.
- Comfortable working independently and takes direction well, however, proactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction. Manages multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Team player with the client, entire project team and contractor.
- Good communicator.
- Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, InDesign and Photoshop; Prefer experience with Enscape, SketchUP, Newforma.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
- 3-7 years of experience.
- LEED Green Associate or LEED AP desired but not required.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Work from home may be optional for up to two days per week depending on assignment.

**Pay Transparency:** In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
