+ Serving as a first assistant in the operating room for pediatric neurosurgery procedures

+ Performing efficiently in urgent/emergent situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events
+ Assisting with transfer orders, discharge to outside facilities and associated documentation
+ Establishing and maintaining communication with other health care providers and departments to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness and to promote consistency and continuity of care (e.g. handoffs, sign out and transfer summaries).

+ Function as a clinical leader and educator in collaboration with physicians, nurses and others on the healthcare team

The Department of Neurosurgery at Children's Hospital Colorado/University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU-SOM) has a (1.0FTE) clinical faculty position available for an Advanced Practice Provider. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be a clinical faculty member of the CU-SOM, entering at the level of Instructor. This position encompasses inpatient and outpatient medical care services for children suffering from a wide range of neurosurgical disorders. As a faculty member of the CU-SOM, opportunities for professional development may include precepting medical learners, education of nursing and medical staff, participation in quality and safety improvement projects, clinical research projects, and mentoring residents and junior Advanced Practice Providers.Responsibilities of the APP position include primary patient care, including being a surgical first assistant; care of hospitalized neurosurgical patients in the Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, neurosurgical floor, neurosurgery clinic, and evaluating new consultations in the hospital and emergency department. The APP will work closely with other members of the Neurosurgery service including faculty, APPs and residents. A portion of this role's time will be on nights and weekends.Other duties/proficiencies include:

The identified applicant will be responsible for managing human cell culture lines and conducting basic molecular biology experiments, such as DNA, RNA, and protein analysis, under the supervision of Dr. Dias and more senior laboratory members. The goal of the research project broadly is to better understand essential mechanisms underlying the disorder Fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome, a neurodegenerative disorder associated with cognitive decline, psychiatric co-morbidities, and tremor and ataxia. Key Responsibilities:

+ Nocturnist role: Coverage of AMC PHM complex pulmonary, coverage of transitional respiratory and airway center for kids (TRACK), and general medical inpatient teams, including admissions, transfers, stabilization of decompensating patients with in-house support provided by PHM faculty physician and APP nocturnists. No patients are admitted to TRACK overnight. Support from pulmonologist for TRACK patients will be provided by telephone/secure chat.

Job Description
The Psychologist is a part of the multidisciplinary team responsible for providing direct clinical services to patients and their families with most emphasis on completing Psychological Testing for Autism Spectrum Disorder and related neurodevelopmental conditions, providing individual, group and family consultation and intervention (including Treatment Planning sessions) for neurodiverse patients (primarily 0-18 years); facilitating psycho-educational training and family meetings when clinically-indicated; assisting in program development; developing, implementing, and reviewing Treatment Plans; and providing linkage to outside resources.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Conduct psychological components of inter-disciplinary team (developmental pediatrician, speech therapist, occupational therapist, psychologist) evaluation for children with concerns for developmental delays and Autism Spectrum Disorder (including administration of all modules of the ADOS diagnostic evaluation, common early developmental cognitive measures, common early developmental adaptive measures, and other standardized evaluation tools as determined by individual patient needs).
+ Write diagnostic reports that include clear case conceptualization, diagnostic determinations, and treatment-planning recommendations for children assessed in the inter-disciplinary developmental pediatrics clinic or in psychologist-only evaluations.
+ Review outside diagnostic evaluation reports to assist with treatment-planning and next steps for children, conducting treatment planning sessions when appropriate.
+ Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests that inform diagnosis and treatment of assigned patients as predicated by need/role.
+ Provides clinical supervision to pre-doctoral psychology interns, postdoctoral psychology fellows, and other mental health trainees or medical residents as necessary.
+ Provide short-term consultation and/or intervention to neurodiverse children and their families.
+ Conduct psychoeducational classes and groups for neurodiverse children and their families.
+ Provide individual and family support and engage them in treatment plan and decision-making process with respect to patient rights, principles of confidentiality, respect for patient privacy and right to self-determination.
+ Is knowledgeable of current clinical conditions, methods, medications, theoretical frameworks, and interventions.
+ Utilizes best practices in delivery of behavioral health services in accordance with professional, clinical and KP guidelines.
+ Utilizes evidence-based interventions and modalities with sound theoretical base.
+ Provide virtual consultation (e-consult advice) to medical and mental health providers with questions about caring for adult patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
+ Collaborate with clinical staff and patient/family to develop and execute systems-based, family-centered care plans and goals. Assist patient, family, social relationships, medical staff, and teammates with care coordination, problem solving and goal setting.
+ Provide patient and family education effectively and sensitively to encourage compliance with medical and therapeutic treatment recommendations.
+ Promote empowerment of patient in self-management of disease.
+ Determine and manage appropriate levels of care and service for patients using clinical knowledge, established guidelines and psychiatric consultation.
+ Provide consultation for complex situations to providers, staff and contract agencies in caring for patients.
+ Continuously assess, evaluate, and record patient response to interventions.
+ Practice within scope of practice parameters as inferred by licensure, knowledge, skill level, sound clinical judgment, and KP guidelines.
+ Provide an integrated approach to assessment and intervention for patients having difficulty managing their health due to physical health conditions/chronic disease, psychological, behavioral, cognitive, and/or social factors. Maintain high level of clinical expertise.
+ Accurately document patient data, actions or interventions, responses, and plans for care/follow-up according to KP guidelines and standards for practice.
+ Collaborate to build strong, effective relationships with referrers and their staff to assist in development and communication of plans for co-management of patients and their transition across care settings.
+ Lead or participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
+ Provide consultation and training to other members of the care team in the area of mental health, neurodevelopmental differences, and/or ASD as indicated.
+ Accurately identify and prioritize high risk cases providing crisis intervention services as needed; determines appropriateness of hospitalization; assesses patients potential for lethality.
+ In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives.
