Meta Boss Mark Zuckerberg Could Become World’s Richest After Making $51 Billion

Meta Boss Mark Zuckerberg Set To Become World's Richest After Making $51 Billion In 2024

Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg has experienced an extraordinary surge in wealth this year, adding a staggering $51 billion to his fortune.

This impressive gain brings his total net worth to $179 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Zuckerberg’s earnings mean his now fourth in the list of the world’s richest people. He still trails Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Bernard Arnault.

A Rapid Climb in the Billionaire Ranks

Zuckerberg started the year ranked sixth but briefly overtook Arnault, the luxury magnate behind LVMH, to claim the third spot. The Meta chief’s wealth continues to grow steadily, positioning him for another potential leap into the top three.

With technology fortunes known for their volatility, Zuckerberg’s rise to the very top could happen quickly.

According to one market analyst:

“It wouldn’t take much—a bad day for Tesla or Amazon and a good one for Meta could shuffle things around.”

Given the unpredictability of tech stocks, Zuckerberg remains within striking distance of surpassing his rivals.

Chasing the World’s Richest

Currently, Elon Musk holds the title of the world’s richest person with a fortune of $248 billion. Jeff Bezos follows closely at $202 billion, with Arnault sitting at $180 billion.

Zuckerberg, however, has closed the gap significantly.

Earlier this year, Musk’s wealth was valued at $164 billion, and Bezos wasn’t much further ahead of Zuckerberg in January, highlighting how quickly fortunes can shift in the tech sector.

While Zuckerberg’s $51 billion increase is remarkable, Musk and Bezos have also seen gains this year, adding $19 billion and $25 billion to their respective fortunes.

Yet, the difference in growth rates suggests Zuckerberg could continue to climb faster than his competitors.

The Role of Philanthropy and Age

One factor that could influence the rankings is philanthropy. While Musk and Bezos have yet to make any significant donations this year, Zuckerberg has been known for his charitable endeavors.

Experts suggest if Musk and Bezos follow the philanthropic lead of Warren Buffett—who has given away over half of his Berkshire Hathaway stock—it could create room for Zuckerberg to leap to the top of the list.

Experts say Buffett would top the list if he’d not given so much of his wealth away.

At 40 years old, Zuckerberg has plenty of time to continue building his fortune.
In comparison, Musk is 53, and Bezos is 60. Financial experts point out that age is a key factor in wealth accumulation.

Morgan Housel, the author of The Psychology of Money, once said that Warren Buffett built 99 percent of his wealth after the age of 65, underscoring the long-term potential of compounded wealth over time.

A Potential Future at the Top

As Zuckerberg’s wealth continues its upward trajectory, the future looks bright for the Meta CEO.

Whether through strategic investments, stock performance, or the volatile nature of tech fortunes, Zuckerberg remains well-positioned to challenge Musk and Bezos for the title of the world’s richest person.

The year is far from over, and with technology fortunes constantly in flux, Zuckerberg’s ascent in the billionaire rankings is worth watching closely.

With his current momentum, he might soon reclaim his place among the top three and potentially rise even higher.
