Morgan Olson is planning to lay off more than 435 employees at three US sites.

This is a surprising move, considering the company had invested $57.8 million in the area a few years ago, creating over 700 jobs.

The layoffs are attributed to a delay in vehicle purchase orders and the current economic conditions.

The director of Marketing and Communications said the company’s customers have indicated they will postpone new vehicle purchase orders due to economic uncertainties.

The decision means Morgan Olson will reduce its Michigan, Tennessee, and Virginia workforce.

However, the company reassures that ongoing production will continue as they work toward expanding their customer base and services in preparation for a market recovery.

City Manager Ken Larking of Danville said the community is ready to support the affected workers in finding new opportunities.

He mentioned a program called Rapid Response, designed to help laid-off employees connect with potential employers in the region.

The layoffs are scheduled between December 22 and the year-end.

The firm hopes to minimize the impact of these job cuts on the affected employees and their families.

Despite the setback, Danville’s job market remains promising, with various companies consistently seeking qualified individuals to fill positions.
