Tesla has sued the Swedish Transport Agency after postal workers suspended license plate delivery for the firm’s cars.

IF Metall union are putting pressure on the electric car make to "guarantee good wages, good pensions, and good insurance for staff."

Almost 130 Tesla's Swedish repair shop staff started the strike on Monday, October 27.

Eight other unions have joined the action in solidarity with the striking repair workers.

The Swedish Union for Service and Communications Employees (Seko), representing postal workers, implemented a "blockade" on November 20.

The dockworkers also ceased to unload Tesla cars.

Tesla's legal filing alleges the Transport Agency, part of the Swedish government, unfairly targeted the company by failing to deliver registration plates.

The court granted a preliminary ruling, requiring the agency to provide access to the plates within seven days or face fines.

Elon Musk, Tesla's billionaire CEO, noted the potential impact of the standoff, calling it "insane" on his social media X.

Musk has been known for opposing unionization within the company.

In support of the union's cause, Seko president Gabriella Lavecchia said Tesla was not adhering to the "rules of the game" in Sweden.

"Completely unacceptable"

She said: "It is of course completely unacceptable. The fight that IF Metall is now taking is important for the entire Swedish collective agreement model."

IF Metall says Tesla workers receive lower wages and fewer benefits than industry standards.

The union said that while some big firms like Amazon have initially resisted collective bargaining agreements, most end up complying.

The union said: "We are convinced that even Tesla will realise that there is no tenable reason to maintain its almost dogmatic resistance to signing contracts."
