Apple announces Tap to Pay feature for iPhones

Apple-tap to pay

Apple has introduced a new iPhone Tap to Pay function.

This feature, which will be available later this year, would allow businesses to use their iPhones to accept Apple Pay purchases "seamlessly and securely" with a single tap.

Contactless credit and debit cards, as well as other digital wallets, will be supported by the feature. The most intriguing aspect of Apple's new feature is that the corporation is collaborating with other parties to make the platform available to app developers and other payment platforms.

Stripe will be the first payment platform to enable Tap to Pay on iPhone this spring, according to Apple, including through an upgrade to the Shopify Point of Sale app.

This suggests that this will not be a native iOS feature, but rather that Apple is giving up the iPhone's NFC chip to third-party payment platforms to create applications that support NFC technology and jobs.

Billy Alvarado, Stripe’s chief business officer said: "Whether you’re a salesperson at an internet-first retailer or an individual entrepreneur, you can soon accept contactless payments on a device that’s already in your pocket: your iPhone".

He added: "With Tap to Pay on iPhone, millions of businesses using Stripe can enhance their in-person commerce experience by offering their customers a fast and secure checkout,”

Apple Inc.’s world corporate headquarters located in Cupertino spans 856,000 square feet and houses about 16,000 employees.
