**Job Description Summary:**
Provide primary BLS Life Support Care to include medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured as well as on-going monitoring of patient's vitals during transport. This will require working directly with physicians and nursing staff to inform and receive patient information regarding the patient's condition on arrival or prior to transporting.
**Responsibilities And Duties:**
60% - Performs primary job responsibilities listed for Emergency Medical Technician to include response, patient assessment, vital signs, patient monitoring and diagnostics, patient moving and lifting, medication administration.
20% - Maintaining Equipment in proper working order
10% - Daily cleaning to include mandatory weekly disinfecting of ambulances/equipment and station.

Job Description
The Emergency Medical Technician I (EMT I) provides basic emergency medical care and transportation in accordance with applicable state laws, departmental policies, and established clinical protocols. Working under the direction of a Paramedic or clinical leader, the EMT I supports patient care within the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) department and ensures the safe, efficient delivery of pre-hospital care. **Essential Functions**
+ Provides basic emergency medical care in accordance with applicable state scope of practice and departmental policies and procedures.
+ Assists with patient assessment, vital sign monitoring, and delivery of care under the supervision of a Paramedic or clinical leader.
+ Administers first aid treatments, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bandaging wounds, controlling bleeding, immobilizing fractures, and assisting with breathing as assigned.
+ Operates emergency vehicles safely and in compliance with hospital policy and local traffic laws.
+ Conducts vehicle and equipment checks at the start of each shift to ensure readiness and compliance with standards.
+ Maintains and restocks supplies and equipment necessary for patient care.
+ Demonstrates proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and follows infection control procedures.
+ Completes accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) in accordance with regulatory guidelines and organizational policy.
+ Escalates patient care or operational concerns through the proper chain of command.
+ Collaborates with paramedics, nurses, and physicians to provide continuity of care upon patient transfer to a medical facility.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

**Qualifications**
+ Technical School completion of a state-approved Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training program required
+ Technical School EMT Advanced course preferred
+ Experience working in a hospital-based emergency department, ambulance service, or critical care transport unit preferred
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Knowledge of EMS protocols, emergency response procedures, and basic life support techniques.
+ Ability to safely operate emergency vehicles and perform routine vehicle and equipment checks.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and clinical teams.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides pre-hospital evaluation, treatment and transportation of sick and/or injured victims of all age groups. Operates in non-emergent, emergent and /or transfer situations at a Basic to Intermediate Life Support level, if necessary, until arrival at a definitive care facility.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides pre-hospital medical care for pediatric through geriatric populations, which includes assessing patient condition, rendering of appropriate care, utilizing appropriate invasive treatments and administering medications.
2. Operates an assigned vehicle in emergent and non-emergent situations and in varying weather conditions, providing safe, reliable and timely transport to a designated point of service.
3. Performs general care and maintenance of vehicles. Performs daily vehicle inspections, completes and accurately inventories and inspects medical equipment, supplies and medications assigned to the department.
4. Maintains complete and accurate patient care reports (PCRs), prepares and maintains logs and/or other applicable records during assigned shift.
5. Demonstrates age specific competency for applicable patient populations.
6. Performs pre-hospital evaluation and treatment of ambulatory customers at a Basic to Intermediate Life Support level. Interacts with all levels of clinical care team, patients, families, EMS agencies, physicians, vendors and the community.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
EMT-Basic or higher certification within the state of practice on date of hire. Current BLS certification on date of hire and maintenance thereafter. Valid Driver's License on date of hire. Depending on work location may be required to obtain Ambulance Attendance licensure within 30 days of hire, and maintenance thereafter. Based on work location may be required to have IV certification.

BAE Systems is hiring for an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) / EMT-Paramedic to support at its San Diego Ship Repair site.
In this role as an EMT / EMT-P, you will act as one of the professional medical technicians at the shipyard. You'll be charged to promote worker safety, assist in managing injuries and illnesses, and help return workers to their duties in a respectful and efficient manner within your professional scope of care. Reporting into the Medical Department Lead/Supervisor, you'll champion healthy work conditions in support of efforts to reduce or eliminate health hazards for employees. You'll assist in the administration of the company s Occupational Health and Safety program, and policy and procedures ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations set by Federal OSHA and other agencies including the Department of Labor, Department of Transportation, Coast Guard, State agencies, and various customer requirements.
Please note: As the EMT / EMT-P at the San Diego site, your support could extend into weekend and holiday hours.
**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Typically requires a High School Diploma (or the equivalent) plus a current EMT certification along with 2 years experience in a related role such as an EMT, EMT-P, Nurse, etc.;
+ Experience working in an Emergency Room, Trauma, or related EMS environment;
+ Flexibility required to support varying shifts as needed (1st, 2nd, 3rd, weekends, holidays);
+ Able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Biometric Identification System badge;
+ Must have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills;
+ Computer skills to effectively work with Microsoft Office and industry-related software applications;
+ Ability to support within a frequently changing, fast-paced environment;
+ Able to work independently, take initiative, make improvements to the function, and drive Safety and Health excellence and performance;
+ Versed in Federal OSHA and local codes;
+ Ability to maintain a professional attitude and defuse unsettled situations to create a safety and health culture for employees;
+ Must have an overall occupational health background with emphasis in heavy industrial settings.
**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**
+ Two (2) years recent EMS / Trauma experience;
+ Experience working in a shipyard environment helpful.
**Pay Information**
Full-Time Salary Range: $47488 - $75980

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
