Duties and Responsibilities:
*Preparing basic correspondence and legal documents including termination and assignment letters.
*Independently and in partnership with Corporate Procurement, gather and organize contract records

The Ohio Attorney General's Office is currently seeking an organized and detail-oriented candidate for a Paralegal/Legal Assistant 2 in our Court of Claims section. This position provides paralegal support and assists attorneys as needed with cases. This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule and is headquartered in our Columbus office. There may be changes to this schedule based on training and operational needs.

The duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Researches federal and/or state statutes, recorded judicial decisions and other legal sources and reference materials in order to prepare responses to inquiries, complaints, claims and legal and/or administrative procedural issues to assist section attorneys.

-Performs Internet and other computer-assisted searches for information and documents

-Assists in the preparation and presentation of cases in litigation, including document review, verification and organization

-Helps prepare and respond to discovery requests and public records requests

-Contacts opposing counsel or court/board personnel as may be necessary to assist in case preparation and presentation of cases

-Assesses, logs and indexes incoming and outgoing electronic and paper document productions

-Uses document management software to prepare legal correspondence; uses case management software

-Drafts legal briefs and memoranda, contracts, pleadings, motions, affidavits, legislation, rules and/or regulations

-Prepares case summaries, legal documents and reports for review, approval and signature of and/or use by section attorneys

-Maintains case calendars and case files

-Manually and/or electronically files legal documents with court on behalf of attorneys

-Responds to general inquiries

-Processes and tracks payments and wire transfers

-Tracks judgements, consent order, and related information for reporting purposes

-Performs other duties as assigned

We are seeking an eDiscovery Analyst with 5 to 8 years'experience to support our eDiscovery Services team in the Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis or Minneapolis office. All Taft employees operate under a "Client First" philosophy-in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.

Essential Duties:

  • Builds, maintains, and supports electronic case databases using RelativityOne.
  • Examines electronic data sets for content, organization and volume, and assists with the proper handling and storage of client data.
  • Performs intake, processes, and loads data using prescribed applications and procedures in accordance with case specific instructions communicated by members of the firm-wide Taft Discovery Group and others in the firm.
  • Produces data in accordance with established workflows and best practices, following case specific instructions as communicated, and assists with the sharing of data with related and opposing parties as needed.
  • Performs necessary and appropriate quality control and verification of all assigned tasks for accuracy and consistency.
  • Independently uses RelativityOne analytics, advanced functionality, artificial intelligence, and scripting to complete assigned tasks.
  • Provides guidance to members of the firm on the most appropriate analytics tool when necessary, based on case needs.
  • Maintains a record of actions, utilizing theAnalyst tracking application, and all project management related forms and applications deployed by the Taft Discovery Group, allowing for the identification and tracking of data during all phases of the data lifecycle, from receipt to archival, as applicable.
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks as assigned, including but not limited to, data media duplication and auditing, imaging, spreadsheet manipulation, image and native file printing.
  • Assists members of the firm with basic and advanced end-user functionality during all phases of the eDiscovery process.
  • Collaborates with project managers and eDiscovery attorneys to complete assignments.
  • Ensures security of all data by tracking the custody and control of data and storing data in accordance with firm department policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Advanced proficiency in the use of RelativityOne.
  • Proficient in the use of RelativityOne analytics and advanced functionality.
  • Proficient in the use and application of RelativityOne scripts for problem solving and delivering efficiency in workspaces.
  • Proficient in the application of the standards of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM).
  • Proficient in the application of the principles of the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS).
  • Analytical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment and work under a high level of mental effort and strain to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Willingness to work non-standard shifts, including mornings, evenings, and weekends in order to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours per week and maintain an irregular work schedule is often required.
