Job Summary

Responsible for the overall management, direction and coordination of Production Planning, Warehousing & Logistics at the Wilson, NC Facility. This includes the proper operation, analysis and interpretation within an SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) environment along with SAP function for WM, and PP modules. Directs inbound, outbound and inventory control functions and the efficient transportation of intra-company goods associated with the plant.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES PERFORMED BY THE INCUMBENT

  • Develops strategies that align with the business objectives and customer needs.
  • Formulate and recommend goals and objectives for improved performance of each reporting function. Responsible for compliance with cGMP within each responsibility center of each materials function.
  • Manages all aspects of SAP, relating to the WM (Warehouse Management), PP (Production Planning), at the facility level.
  • Responsible for the creation of annual financial budgets, various financial re-forecasts, and variance reporting to plan.
  • Responsible for the motivation and development of subordinates to optimize their performance and their personal and professional growth. Provides an organization which will accomplish the above responsibilities and meets company objectives. Develops staff through orientation, training, establishing goals and objectives and standards of performance. Provides a working environment which is safe, motivational, consistent, and conducive to creativity. Provides appropriate recognition of contribution and performance.
  • Manages the activities of the production planning and inventory control area to include: developing a master manufacturing schedule which effectively utilizes the plant's capacity; providing a projected schedule which will maintain a level of finished goods in sufficient volume to minimize service problems and, at the same time, minimize investment; and maintaining an adequate supply of raw materials to support the schedule.
  • Oversees and ensures proper production control planning and scheduling programs to meet sales forecasts and to balance the level of manpower and machine requirements. Makes certain that deviations to the production schedule are investigated and properly followed up.
  • Directs the activities of the warehouse personnel involved in all operations. This includes overseeing workflows and levels of activity to ensure materials are delivered to production and product is shipped (parcel, LTL, and TL) in a timely, cost effective manner consistent with cGMP.
  • Direct and monitor department staff to provide inbound and outbound functions of materials, components and/or finished product for the Wilson production plant, contract manufacturers, and the shipment of product to distribution centers.
  • Oversees the inventory control activities for all finished products. This includes oversight of the cycle count program, accuracy levels, internal and external replenishment, and discrepancy reconciliation and reporting.
  • Reviews operating methodology and coordinates necessary improvements by automation/computerization for improving data collection and reports and ensures such reports indicate the status of all materials activities.
  • Ensures that the Company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all Materials Department functions.
  • Collaborates with the Environmental Management System Representative for ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are met under ISO 14001 standards.
  • Collaborates with the Energy Management System Representative for ensuring that Energy Management Requirements are met under ISO 50001 standards.
  • Collaborates with the Occupational Health and Safety Management Representative for ensuring compliance to Occupational Health and Safety is met under ISO 45001.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree with a Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in all areas of materials, warehouse/distribution, and at least 7 years in a managerial role. Prefer a background in the pharmaceutical industry, or work in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP) as well as warehouse management, labor management, transportation management systems, and production planning.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of production planning, inventory control, and distribution techniques and theory.
  • Must demonstrate proficient working knowledge of Good Warehouse procedures and practices and general supply chain processes.
  • Flexibility to work any shift while remaining on call during off shift operations.
  • Must exercise good judgment and decision making skills in order to direct and coordinate activities of staff.

Position Overview:
The Director of Supply Chain Management (SCM) position leads the Planning, Warehouse/Logistics, Change Management, Learning & Development, and Lean Manufacturing (MPS) teams at our Manufacturing Division Wilson site. The SCM Lead is responsible for managing both incoming and outgoing supply for the Wilson site. The SCM Lead provides tactical and strategic direction to the site team and ensures alignment of the site with value chain and our company's supply network priorities. The SCM Lead is also responsible for driving continuous improvement activities and efficiency at the Wilson site in alignment with lean manufacturing principles and applicable regulations. The position will also be expected to promote a positive work environment and culture within the team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities for the Director of Supply Chain Management position will include but not be limited to:
+ COMPLIANCE: Accountable for all work managed within the SCM organization being in compliance with cGMP, EHS, and Labor regulation. SCM team will be required to support and lead compliance investigations as needed. Accountable for escalating and managing events and/or trends that have potential impact to supply. Responsible for addressing any gaps identified in the SCM organization from a compliance perspective.
+ SUPPLY PLANNING: Leads the SCM management team providing guidance to resolve potential supply concerns and optimize site performance. Strives to ensure shop floor stability to support consistent reliable supply from the site. Also acts as liaison between our Manufacturing Division Wilson site and the network planning hub. Responsible for supporting efforts to align the site to the network supply chain strategy, helping team members understand, adapt, and execute those strategies in a fit for purpose way at the site. The SCM Lead will also represent the site from a supply chain perspective at various network and divisional forums.
+ METRICS & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: The SCM Lead is accountable for achieving business, performance, and compliance goals for the SCM team and site consistent with lean principles. Accountable to the Site Leadership Team for identifying and resolving performance gaps related to the SCM organization or supply. Accountable to develop and maintain standard work for the SCM organization. Identifies, prioritizes and champions improvement projects across the site to improve supply reliability to/from the site as well as reduce process variability and eliminate waste.
+ BUDGETING: The SCM Lead is responsible for developing and monitoring the organization's operating budget, staffing plan, and capital plan. Additionally, the SCM Lead will provide forecasts for progress against financial commitments and close any associated gaps.
+ PEOPLE MANAGEMENT: The SCM Lead is accountable for staffing and allocating resources to ensure critical business needs are met for the SCM organization. They are expected to provide effective leadership to the team including coaching, employee development, and performance management. Partners with Site Leadership to plan and implement talent management for the site. Also must ensure that a positive work environment and culture are maintained within the team.
Education Requirement:
BA/BS degree in business administration, science, or another technical field; master's degree preferred.
Required Experience and Skills:
+ Minimum of 8 years of experience in more than one functional area, such as Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Operations, Quality Operations, Technical Operations, Technical Support, Engineering, Production Planning, or New Products Planning in a pharmaceutical environment.
+ Experience with production planning utilizing MRPII Systems (SAP experience preferred)
+ Demonstrated strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to coach, influence and support others through a culture of inclusion, feedback and empowerment

$169,700.00 - $267,200.00

Team Overview and Job Responsibilities

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for ensuring material availability throughout the supply chain to meet our customer needs. This Supply Chain functions for the Rocky Mount, NC and Oshawa Canada plants; including raw material planning and releases to support both plant manufacturing and the distribution centers; master scheduling and finite scheduling of production and kitting activities; and inventory control, transportation, and distribution functions for raw materials and work in progress (WIP) supporting the manufacturing plant. This position manages salaried and hourly employees.

Principle Functional Responsibilities

Supervise the Production Planning and Scheduling Team in Rocky Mount, NC and Oshawa Canada with responsibilities including Master Scheduling, Production Planning / Coordination, Shop Floor Scheduling and Materials Planning.

  • Directly responsible for the management and procurement of raw materials using MRP within SAP ERP system with support from Corporate Purchasing, including both raw material for plant consumption and for the Distribution Centers to ship to customers.
  • Responsible for Sales and Operations Planning and using outputs to drive production planning, inventory management, both quality and quantity, and customer service.
  • Responsible for all or most of the following: sales and operations planning (S&OP), intercompany management, inventory control, transportation, and works closely with procurement, customer service, manufacturing, production planning, warehousing & distribution etc.
  • Ensuring accurate inventory control and planning. Coordinate and supervise physical inventory take, including cycle counting, and month end inventory process.
  • Overseeing the shipping and receiving functions of the manufacturing sites, including scheduling, dispatching, and on-time delivery.
  • Ensuring all operating goals are met, including cost, safety, schedule conformance, shipping accuracy, inventory accuracy, supply levels, customer service, employee productivity, etc.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization clearly and concisely from hourly associates to senior management.
  • Managing a team of hourly and salary employees, including workforce planning and scheduling, employee relations, and employee development.
  • Promoting and ensuring a safe and environmentally compliant work environment.
  • Participating, as needed, in continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Six Sigma, and other process improvement techniques.
  • Oversees all customer shipping issues, including claims for loss or damage.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Five or more years of supply chain, warehousing, materials supply, and/or distribution required and preferred experience in progressive production / materials planning in a managerial role (Materials, Shop floor, etc.).
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Experience with ERP systems preferably SAP System.
  • Materials planning and scheduling experience, harness building / kitting a plus.
  • APICS and Six Sigma Certifications are a plus
