The Field Team Inspector supports the Vice-President of Field Services in performing all Field Services offered to our Ammonia Refrigeration clients.

Working Environment:

Remote w/travel to client facilities.

Core Responsibilities:

Your job duties and responsibilities will include but not limited to, traveling to client sites throughout the USA to serve food manufactures, cold storage facilities, pharmaceutical firms, petrochemical, refineries, etc. who utilizes Anhydrous Ammonia for refrigeration in their facilities. Our goal is to verify level of compliance with OSHA 1910.119 Process Safety Management and EPA 40 CFR Part 68 Risk Management Plan to assist our clients in the management of their PSM Program. This includes:

  • Performing Five-Year and Annual Mechanical Integrity Inspections
  • Performing Non-Destructive Testing of Pipe and Vessels (Ultra-Sonic Thickness Testing Only)
  • Gather and Update Field Documentation for the development of Process Safety Information: (P&IDS, Ammonia Inventory Calculations, Relief Vent System Design Calculations, Material and Energy Balances)
  • Installation of valve tags and line identification/labeling for pipe, valves, and equipment.
  • In office compilation of all fieldwork into Final Reports for the client.

  • Inspects plant machinery and equipment. Repairs, maintains, and services all equipment in accordance with the facility Standard Operating Procedures, equipment maintenance manuals, and WMRE policies and training. Must also be knowledgeable to handle non-routine repairs or issues that may arise and require sound, immediate judgment without direct supervision.
  • Implements WM and WMRE safety policies and practices for all work activities, and ensures these practices are followed by other WM staff, vendors, contractors, and visitors entering the facility.
  • Completes all mandatory training activities for both safety and operational training as assigned by supervisor.
  • Procures plant supplies and replacement equipment in an efficient manner by identifying needs in advance, managing vendors, and working within WMRE guidelines as well as being responsible for the annual budget.
  • Promptly responds to call-outs of plant shutdowns during non-business hours to identify the cause of the shutdown and rectify/diagnose through appropriate repairs or adjustments to return the plant to operation while consulting with WMRE operations managers (as needed). This role is given discretion to judge the situation and respond accordingly without management intervention, until needed.
  • Identifies backup staff in coordination with the WMRE regional manager, and assigns call-out schedules to ensure that there is at least one plant manager available 24/7/365 for plant shutdowns and emergencies. For self and backup, adjusts daily or weekly on-site presence at plant during business hours to reflect time spent for call-outs, with consideration that all other daily and monthly duties must be completed on a timely basis.
  • Maintains the facility spare inventory and provides a written inventory count twice annually.
  • Schedules and conducts plant tours as requested to support good community relations. Represent WMRE as the on-site technical expert on production of renewable energy from landfill gas. Participates actively in developing and implementing ongoing public relations between the plant and community to ensure favorable outlook of the facility from both customer and community.
  • Participates in public forums to support business development and community education. Ensures the potential for use of the facility as a marketing platform and supervises such activities. Maintains effective relationships with key political and community decision makers in the region.
  • Completes special assignments/tasks as required by WMRE Operations Manager, Market Area Gas Operations Manager, or Landfill District Manager.

  • Completes engineering calculations and tasks such as hydraulics, HEC-RAS modeling, rip-rap sizing, HDD design, containment calculations, and structural design, with a strong focus on design for waterway crossing remediations and containment design & analysis.

Summary

Lincoln Electric Automation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for our Bettendorf, IA location (formerly Vizient Manufacturing Solutions). As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will focus on conceptualizing and detailing innovative automation systems including robotic work cells, tooling, and precision positioning equipment. Using advanced 3D CAD platforms (ProE/Creo, SolidWorks), you’ll take ownership of mechanical design from concept through build, testing, and service support. This position involves heavy mechanical engineering design work to create custom tooling and fixtures.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the mechanical design of custom automation systems, often managing one (1) complex project at a time.
  • Develop and document 3D mechanical designs using CAD software such as ProE/Creo and SolidWorks.
  • Perform engineering calculations (static and dynamic systems) to ensure mechanical performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including fabrication, machine build, controls, and project management—throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide technical drawings, mechanical layouts, and detailed part documentation to support production and procurement.
  • Interact with customers regularly during design and development to ensure alignment with technical requirements and expectations.
  • Ensure that mechanical designs meet all project specifications, quotations, and purchase order terms.
  • Take ownership of small-scale projects as Engineering Lead, Designer, and Detailer.
  • Support Estimating, Sales, Production, and Service departments with technical insight and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Proactively manage timelines and to meet project schedules in a fast-paced environment (typical duration: 4–8 weeks).

Required Education & Experience

  • 2+ years of mechanical design engineering experience
    • Industrial automation or custom equipment development industry experience preferred.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software (ProE/Creo and/or SolidWorks required).
  • Solid understanding of mechanical principles, fabrication methods, and materials.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and robotic system integration is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience in customer-facing technical roles and project collaboration is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel); experience with project management software is a plus.

•    Collaborate in a team environment to execute capital projects for manufacturing facilities in the Cleveland and Mentor areas.

What You Will Do 
 

The Materials Science Engineer will be a subject matter expert on production issues for cracking mechanisms and extrusion properties, with the goal of improving productivity in SMAW production as a whole from R&D perspective. Specifically, you will: 

  • Design and develop paste components comprised of inorganic powders for welding electrodes.
  • li>Conduct research and experiments to improve the performance and durability of welding electrode coatings.
  • Analyze and interpret data to optimize material properties and performance.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to scale up production processes for mixes of inorganic powder components in welding electrode coatings.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to inorganic powders used in welding electrodes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for welding electrode production.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in inorganic powder engineering and welding technology.
  • Evaluate and optimize flow properties of inorganic powders in paste flow during extrusion processes.
  • Develop and implement methods to control and improve the paste flow extrusion process for welding electrode coating components.
  • Monitor and adjust extrusion parameters to ensure consistent quality and performance welding electrode coating.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to enhance the efficiency and reliability of extrusion operations.
  • Maintain records of all work in process and document interim and final results in the applicable format.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as needed or directed in support of the Company’s 2025 Strategy.
     

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Ceramics Engineering, or a related field.
  • < i>For a Level III: 5+ years of relevant experience
  • For a Level IV: 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in inorganic powder development and processing, preferably in welding electrode production.
  • Strong knowledge of inorganic powder properties, testing methods, and manufacturing techniques such as paste extrusion.
  • Proficiency in DOE, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis and other engineering tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Selected candidate’s Job Level and Pay Grade will be determined based upon qualifications and experience. 

Preferred 

  • Experience with advanced inorganic powders used in welding applications.
  • Familiarity with industry-specific standards and certifications for welding electrodes.
