Minimum Qualifications:

Department Summary

The History department at San Jose State University ( is a vibrant center of learning for nearly 300 undergraduate and graduate History majors, plus hundreds more undergraduate students enrolled in History survey courses that fulfill General Education and American Institutions graduation requirements. The department has nine full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty and ten part-time or full-time lecturers. We offer courses that cover most of the world and all periods of time. We are always looking for qualified History instructors who can teach lower- division survey courses (MA required, PhD preferred) and occasional upper-division courses (PhD required) as well. We also hire qualified lecturers to act as supervisors for our graduate students who are complete their credential/MAT program through the History Department and the College of Education/Teacher Education Department.
Brief Description of Duties for Lecturer A Position
We are seeking qualified lecturers to teach and supervise SSED 184Z: Phase II Student Teaching on a part-time, temporary basis. This is a 4-unit, graduate course offered through the History Department and the College of Education/Teacher Education Department that fulfills the Phase II Student Teaching requirement to earn a CA teaching credential.

  • Candidates must meet with students as required;
    use Canvas and other appropriate instructional technology;
    attend faculty and college meetings;
    maintain student records (attendance in district placements, Individual Development Plans (IDP) and mentor and supervisor formative and summative evaluations);
    and follow all CSU and SJSU policies and guidelines.
  • Candidates must have Social Science secondary education (7-12th grades) teaching experience.

Salary Range or Pay Grade Assistant Professor: Minimum $116,000.00, Midpoint $145,000.00, Maximum $174,000.00 Description

* Provide comprehensive direct patient care within the scope of a general practitioner (restorations, extractions, fixed and removable appliances, periodontal therapy, endodontic therapy, etc.) to patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities
* Provide support to dental hygienists practicing in the clinic(s) assigned, and radiology diagnostics for patients being seen in the outpatient clinic setting
* Maintain and document dental records and assist with providing follow-up care
* Manage referrals in the clinical for patients that require treatment through hospital-based care in an operating room setting, referrals to specialists outside the Tufts Special Care Dental Clincal Program (e.G. oral surgery, endodontics, etc.), and communication with patients and their advocates (parents, guardians, etc.) as needed.

Qualifications

* Minimum requirements include a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) (or foreign equivalent) with 1-2 years of relevant clinical patient care experience
* Preferred requirements: 3-5 years of clinical experience beyond residency training and experience in the treatment of patients with special health care needs
* Preference will be given to those who have experience working with patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
* Experience evaluating patient care and coordinating patient treatment plans with parents, guardians, and caregivers
* The candidate will be a team leader, an effective teacher and mentor, have excellent organizational skills, be self-motivated, able to manage his/her time efficiently and have excellent written and oral communication skills

Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide the learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of the course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities are to plan, develop and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.

Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System. Lone Star College accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. Adjunct (part-time) faculty hiring is based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. As a rule, adjunct faculty may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Teaches Cybersecurity courses at a variety of times and locations
  2. Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  3. Submits required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  4. Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  5. Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  6. Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress
  7. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  8. Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
  9. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking;
standing;
bending;
carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts;
or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and any specialized equipment standard within the discipline/industry
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • Hours will vary depending on class time;
    Instructors are required to meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer information technology, computer engineering, computer-based information systems or business/computer related field (e.G., computer management, decision engineering, or electrical engineering), and 3 years nonteaching work experience in the field or industry certification(s).
Salary

$55.44 per contact hour.
