POSITION SUMMARY:

Logistics & Storage Engineering (L&SE) is an engineering service and project management organization comprised of engineering and other resources that manage project work associated with the pipeline, terminal, and marine organizations within MPLX. L&SE is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform civil design for the L&SE organization. This position will provide engineering analysis and develop design packages for construction, as well as complete as-built drawing documentation as required. This position will work directly with the project leaders throughout L&SE to develop / maintain drawings, as well as provide technical expertise. The position will be located in Findlay, OH and can expect travel up to 5-10% of the time, including some overnight travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Collaborates with other departments, subject matter experts, technicians and vendors to obtain pertinent information to complete design and engineering tasks for proposed projects in L&SE.
  • Completes engineering calculations and tasks such as hydraulics, HEC-RAS modeling, rip-rap sizing, HDD design, containment calculations, and structural design, with a strong focus on design for waterway crossing remediations and containment design & analysis.
  • Develops supporting design packages for mechanical, structural, and civil portions of projects.
  • Works closely with project leaders, subject matter experts, contractors, and terminal operations personnel to complete as-builts for work completed at pipeline and terminal facilities to maintain core drawings.
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of company standards, code requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborates with specialists and subject matter experts to create standard drawings and specifications for typical systems.
  • Proactively manages multiple concurrent projects while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Identifies and leads group continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Expectation is that the employee would have the ability to grow into the following areas:
  • Works closely with project leaders to complete the system analysis and design based on company specifications and code requirements.
  • Determines how complex systems should function and lays out initial design concepts.
  • Independently prepares thorough and accurate documentation, correspondence, and design packages for the construction of proposed projects.
  • Maintains involvement in projects from design through project closing. This includes providing support throughout construction as well as verifying that the finished project adheres to the proposed design by reviewing as-built data.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree: Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Computer Proficiencies: Familiarity and experience with Autodesk products is preferred.
  • Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency is required. Experience using HEC-RAS software is a bonus but not required.
  • Work Experience: Civil knowledge and experience preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Marathon Petroleum Company (MPC) is currently accepting applications for a River Engineer 4. This position will be assigned to the Marine Repair Facility (MRF) in Catlettsburg, KY and will report to the Port Engineers. River Engineers are critical members of the MRF, and we are looking for individuals who can contribute to our inclusive work environment.

River Engineers are responsible for the mechanical operation of boats and barges. They work closely with the vessel’s Captain and shore-based personnel to maintain the vessel’s operability. River Engineers provide supervision and training to personnel reporting to the engine room and are responsible for adherence to the Company and regulatory policies and procedures for engine room activities.

The River Engineer 4 will work a 28-day on and 28-day off rotation on line-haul boats. Travel to and from the vessel for crew changes is expected. Crew changes are accomplished by utilizing a crew van or other rental vehicle. At times, it may be necessary to travel by airline or other mode of transportation as available, depending on the location of the vessel.

This position is part of a progression where satisfactory progress, including passing evaluations and meeting training requirements, must be made throughout the process for continued employment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain decking duties (barge work, making locks and any task requested by the vessel Captain).
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance for the engine room.
  • Complete vessel orientation for each of the smaller classes of vessel.
  • Ability to safely fuel the motor vessel.
  • Perform general boat maintenance.
  • Participate in the Marine Structured Safety Process (SSP) and in any environmental and safety initiatives.
  • Assist shore-side with vessel outages.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
  • Valid Tankerman Credential required.
  • Deckhand 1 Qualification Booklet must be complete and signed off by a designated Trainee.
  • Must be able to pass a preemployment drug test and background check.
  • Must possess basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC skills.

Archaea Energy, a bp company, is a leader in landfill gas to energy and the largest renewable natural gas (RNG) producer in the US. With big ambitions, we specialize in the development, construction and operation of RNG, landfill-gas-to-electric and dairy digester facilities. The team operates around 50 sites in 32 states with a robust development pipeline.

About the role

The Facilities Engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support to existing power generating plants at Archaea. The support will range from system optimization to upgrade projects. This role will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Construction personnel in support of achieving runtime and power generation KPI's. They will also work closely with in-house Engineering teams and 3rd party Engineering Contractors to develop workpack deliverables for system modifications.

Key accountabilities

  • Support the continuing improvement of power generating systems including new system designs and existing system retrofits.
  • Create design basis and develop systems that include but are not limited to industrial piping, pumps, actuated valves, compressors, blowers, heat exchangers, other process equipment, and associated instrumentation.
  • Work directly with 3rd-party engineering firms for engineering deliverables that are not internally generated and review and approve engineering submittals generated by 3rd parties.
  • Ensure designs are aligned with safety and long-term serviceability as top priorities. 
  • Create MOC's that loop in key stake holders to manage, mitigate, and document risks associated with modifications and upgrades.
  • Select the right level of risk assesment for changes, from a Hazard Checklist to a HAZOP.
  • Provide engineering input and/or develop operating, maintenance, commissioning, and start-up procedures and strategies.
  • Provide project management oversite for improvement projects including start-up and commissioning.
  • Maintain site engineering drawings and documents following a document control process.
  • Provide technical support for operation and maintenance personnel in support of Archaea's power generation facilities.

Essential education

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or an equivalent related field of study.

Essential experience

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant engineering roles.
  • Knowledge and understanding of thermodynamics, fluid flow , heat transfer principles, thermal systems, mechanical design & structural analysis.
  • Proven track record in practical application of engineering standards and practices for operating facilities (e.g. ASME, API, NFPA).
  • Fundamental understanding of welding and other general fabrication methods.
  • Demonstrable experience with designing & executing mechanical modifications and/or overseeing complex repair scopes.
  • Demonstrable experience and technical understanding of engineering, maintenance, and operation of gas handling equipment including control integration of equipment.
  • Demonstrable experience with developing functional narratives / functional control descriptions.
  • Demonstrable experience in root cause failure analysis and problem solving methods.
  • Demonstrable experience with ISA symbols and interpreting/developing PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Demonstrable experience reading and interpreting plant layout, piping, mechanical drawings.
  • Willing to travel domestically and work on operating plant sites.

Desirable criteria

  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Demonstrable experience in power generation especially LFGTE. 
  • Demonstrable experience with biogas facilities.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in SolidWorks & PDM.
  • The following specific technical experience is desirable: gas processing/treating, gas compression equipment, gas/water separation, waste gas flare systems.

Key Accountabilities

Power Management

  • Lead monthly and annual forecasting for upstream electrical power consumption.
  • Identify key drivers of power usage and develop a robust budget with clear assumptions & methodology.
  • Partner with infrastructure and midstream teams to align forecasts with real-world system behavior.
  • Develop tools and dashboards to support transparent planning and cost tracking.

Water Cooling & Facility Support

  • Manage the produced water cooling program to ensure midstream pipeline spec compliance.

What You Will Do

Pratt and Whitney Engineering’s Development Operations (DO) is responsible for the assembly, testing and data collection for development of military and commercial jet engines at multiple test facilities. Within DO, Test Systems Engineering (TSE) provides the engineering, design and procurement of special test equipment, test facilities, and test support systems required for validation and production testing of full engines and engine components. During this exciting time of business growth and expansion, the Pratt & Whitney’s Development Operations organization is seeking a Civil / Structural Engineer, responsible for developing innovative test stand designs for a variety of equipment and facilities required to support research & development jet test programs. This individual will work closely with Pratt & Whitney facility owners to understand program requirements, conceptualize design solutions, perform design analysis, develop construction documents, and coordinate contractors. This role will require the engineer to consider factors such as safety, budget, feasibility, ergonomics, efficiency, schedule, environmental impact, and adherence to codes. The engineer will also be expected to coordinate construction schedules of contractors, and perform onsite inspections to confirm accuracy of implementation and installation of the required systems.

  • Designing unique equipment and hardware in support of test operations for research and development of cutting-edge jet engines.  

  • Develop and lead a civil/structural engineering design from start to finish.

  • Work closely with a team of mechanical, electrical and project engineers to develop technical solutions.

  • Provide technical direction and lead a team of A&E design engineers and drafters.

  • Design of steel and reinforced concrete structures according to AISC Steel Construction Manual and American Concrete Institute Codes and Guidelines.

  • Design of shallow foundations, fill, grade and paving plans, and stormwater drainage plans.

  • Coordinate and expedite the procurement, fabrication, construction, installation, and validation of these systems.

  • Consider factors such as safety, environmental impact, code compliance, budget, feasibility, ergonomics, schedule, and efficiency.

  • Self-motivation to determine the design tasks required and follow through with little direction to achieve significant milestones.

  • Travel is up to 10%.
