Tax Accountant job responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and file federal, state, and local income tax returns, sales and use tax returns, and other required tax filings.
  • Maintain and update the tax calendar and other processes regarding taxes.
  • Prepare and update all tax accruals and tax payments.
  • Prepare and/or review quarterly estimates of taxable income for tax returns.
  • Compile data and update schedules, calculations, etc., associated with the quarterly and annual tax provisions.
  • Research and interpret tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify tax planning opportunities.
  • Manage tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities, while supporting other internal and external audits.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls and procedures.
  • Interact with other team members and departments or business units to obtain information required to calculate and properly report taxable income, state apportionment, tax provision, and other required statements and disclosures
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Support general ledger maintenance and analysis.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist with all other accounting life cycle functions, if applicable.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification / license is required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Familiar with Accounting Standards Codification 740 (ASC 740) or FIN 48.
  • Experience with Excel and accounting software.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accounting Team at Milliman Global Corporate Services (GCS) is looking to hire a Tax Accountant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the tax compliance process including preparing schedules and returns for all U.S. federal and state income tax returns. The person in this role will also assist with foreign tax return review and liaison with foreign tax advisors and tax preparers. This person will take a major role in the preparation of US compliance with international information reports (5471, 8865, 8858 and Country-by-Country OR CbC reporting). This person will also be a liaison with local India tax consultants or auditors. This person will assist with special projects on an as needed basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Tax Research:

  • Research US tax laws and regulations
  • Research foreign tax and VAT laws and regulations
Tax Returns:
  • Prepare various federal and state franchise and income tax returns
  • Prepare yearly foreign reporting forms for US requirements (5471, 8858, 8865, CbC reports)
  • Prepare foreign bank reporting forms for US compliance
  • Assist in review of foreign income tax returns with foreign tax advisors

Audit Assistance:
