We also use applied technology expertise to serve the defense, entertainment, material handling, aerospace, science, and renewable energy industries.Position SummaryThis position is a unique opportunity to partner with ATDM's Nondestructive Testing (NDT) training program. The initial offer will be contingent upon the successful completion of the NDT program from November 12, 2024, to March 18, 2025, as well as Oceaneering's pre-employment onboarding requirements. The actual job will begin after graduation, likely in late March or early April 2025.In this role, you will learn various NDT methods in compliance with customer requirements and specifications. You will work under the supervision of certified NDT Level I, II, or III personnel, assisting with NDT techniques without conducting or interpreting inspections independently. The position involves working in a dynamic Tiger Team environment, with potential for frequent travel and overtime. Some analytical skills are required to thrive in this role.Duties And ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL The NDT Trainee will report to the NDT Supervisor for their duties. If the NDT Supervisor is unavailable, another department representative will be assigned. Assist with NDT techniques under the supervision of certified NDT Level I, II, or III personnel. Be able to measure component dimensions using standard measurement tools. Learn NDT techniques such as Visual Inspection (VT), Dye Penetrant Inspection (PT), Magnetic Particle Inspection (MT), Ultrasonic Inspection (UT), and Eddy Current Inspection (ET) according to company procedures. Manage and maintain the equipment used for NDT inspections. Keep personal NDT training records up to date. Accurately document inspection details on company Quality Assurance forms with guidance. Additional duties as assigned. QualificationsREQUIRED Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced vocational/technical training is required. Vocational/ technical training coursework must meet NAVSEA and ASNT Nondestructive Testing (NDT) training requirements, including classroom theory and partial method application, within the designated timeframe and will be verified by Oceaneering's NDT Level III Examiners upon completion. Must possess the physical ability to perform essential job functions. Proficiency in using standard measurement tools. Strong commitment to safety and quality in all work processes. Effective communication skills with internal teams. Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions. Must have or be able to obtain a secret security clearance issued by the U.S. DoD. Must be a U.S. citizen who is not a dual citizen of any other country. Note: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) Nondestructive Testing (NDT) program.Additional InformationWORKING CONDITIONSThis position is considered PRODUCTION/OUTDOOR WORK which is characterized as follows. The shipyard/base/manufacturing work environment; the site may contain mobility barriers with uneven ground level and obstructed pathways. Collaborate with customer QA personnel on necessary aspects of the job.Essential Job Requirements: Produce/create electronic/handwritten Quality Assurance documentation as Objective Quality Evidence for work performed throughout the preservation process. Develop and Maintain Test and Inspection Plan (TIP) for all assigned jobs. Monitor and document all required readings with regard to, but not limited to, metal anchor tooth (profile), paint wet/dry film thickness (DFT), steel temperatures and all required environmental readings using appropriate equipment to include: micrometer, dry film thickness gauge, infrared thermometer, psychomotor. Ensure all assigned equipment is maintained in good working order with within all calibration certification intervals. All of the above requirements shall be completed in a safe and efficient manner so as not to cause injury to self or others.Required Education: High School diploma or equivalentRequired Certification: NACE Inspector and/or SSPC NBPI required.Required Experience: Formal or informal on-the-job training in the marine industry; familiarity with Navy and Society for Protective Coatings standards.Required Skills: Must possess knowledge of Maritime paintings standards with particular emphasis in US Navy ship preservation criterion.
