**Responsiblities**
Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) is seeking a full-time Technologist to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide diagnostic fielding and development support in a national laboratory environment. The Stockpile Experimentation & Operations (SEO) organization is looking for a highly motivated Fiber-Optic Technologist to collaborate in design, development, characterization, and fielding of diagnostics systems on high stake weapons physics experiments conducted at the Principal Underground Laboratory for Subcritical Experimentation (PULSE) Complex and other facilities located at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). This Fiber-Optic Technologist will support multiple projects and locations by providing fiber optic terminations, polishing, fusion splicing and testing.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Build fiber optic arrays and assemblies including cable breakout, fiber terminations, manual and mechanical fiber optic polishing, fusion splicing, and gas blocking
+ Complete fiber optic cabling terminations requests like complex optical arrays, cutting edge optical probes, and optical gas blocking for feedthroughs.
+ Develop and install intricate timing systems containing delicate optical lenses and unique optical connectors. Installing Fiber optic housings, distribution panels/enclosures and routing/connecting optical cables/jumpers.
+ Provide field support for dynamic physics experiments within Test and Experimentation, working as a team member with coworkers, engineers, and scientists on the fiber optics in their diagnostic systems.
+ Use of Optical Time Domain Reflectometers, alignment lasers, optical power meters, hand tools, razor blades, small electric drills, Dremel tools, epoxies, and solvents.
+ Assist with developing alternate systems, equipment, or engineering methods.
+ On occasion walking over rough ground, lifting equipment safely up to 50 pounds in and out of vehicles and work in field temperatures between 30 and 100+ degrees F.
+ Must organize and manage concurrent work requests from different field customers. Organize and maintain adequate supplies in a timely manner.
+ Perform other duties assigned by Management.
**Qualifications**
+ Associate degree in field related to the position plus at least 3 years' progressive related experience or High School diploma plus 5 years' progressive related experience.
+ Demonstrated experience developing alternate systems, equipment, or engineering methods to increase efficiency or troubleshoot situations in the field.
+ Computer experience with Word, Excel, and a drawing software like Visio would be very helpful. Experience in handling and organizing stock parts and supplies.
+ Demonstrated ability to safely operate hand and power tools.

This role on the telecom team manages both incoming tickets from their customers and corresponding tickets they open with the provider/carrier. Support techs must be knowledgeable and have prior experience in telecom, preferably with data circuits and networks. They must also have strong organizational and customer service skills. Technicians will work from a desk and will communicate with customers via phone, email, and ticketing systems/portals. 2+ years of experience in Network Support or telecom support
Experience with equipment terminal access applications (e.g., CRT, Putty, SSH)
Experience with network monitoring software applications (e.g., Syslog, Nagios)
Proficiency in interacting with computing systems (hardware, software, data)
Operational understanding of various network topologies (Point-to-Point, Bus, Star, Ring, Mesh, Tree, Hybrid)

How You Can Join Us
PEAKE is looking for capable Network Installation Technicians, experienced in the installation of CAT 6 and Fiber Optic structured cable distribution systems, to join an on-site installation team at China Lake, CA. You'll collaborate with network designers, engineers, and other install technicians to carry out key tasks and support the overall network infrastructure.
The right candidates can terminate Ethernet and fiber cables using various methods, are familiar with connector types and manufacturers, and are experienced in testing and troubleshooting fiber optic installations using Fluke and OTDR testing.
You should also have expertise in cable pulling, fire stopping, cable dressing, and labeling according to industry standards.

Work Location & Schedule
This position follows a rotating travel schedule:
- Spend 610 weeks working
onsite at China Lake, CA, followed by 2 weeks off at home to rest and recharge - All travel and onsite accommodation expenses fully covered by PEAKE

What You'll Need to Succeed
- 5+ years relevant experience in:
- Structured cable distribution system installation
- Ability to terminate all forms of Ethernet and fiber by various methods, familiarity with connector types and manufacturers, experience testing single-mode and multi-mode fiber installations, experience with Fluke and OTDR testing and fiber optic troubleshooting, pulling cable, fire stopping, dressing cables, and labeling to industry standards
- Experience with Fiber Optics/Characterization testing and resolution
- Installing, terminating, and testing all forms of copper and fiber cabling
- Installing closet hardware including backboards, connecting blocks, racks, patch panels, and fiber enclosures
- Attending training and safety meetings, and working safely at all times
- Familiarity with DISA installation procedures and operational guidelines (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS, Centrix)
- Structured cable distribution system installation
- Security+ preferred but not required
- Proven experience as a fiber optic specialist (with BICSI Installer/Technician certification a plus) preferred
- Must be able to work safely following company policy/procedures on safety
- Must be capable of physical activity, including maneuvering around the building (including comms closets), prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and lifting 50lbs+
- Applicable software or hardware training and certifications commensurate with the technical objectives, services required, and IT environment a plus
