Opportunity Overview :

Position Snapshot
A Material Handler is expected to work safely when moving raw and finished materials in shipping areas using required equipment such as a diesel forklift tractor, and overhead lifting crane. It is the Material Handler's responsibility to be part of our safety culture by wearing the proper personal protective equipment, asking for assistance if needed, reporting all issues with materials and equipment, and staying safe. This position is located approximately 10 minutes from the airport in Robinson Township.
Responsibilities:
- Receives, Identifies, examines and determines destination acceptability of items from a variety of supply sources including contractors, commercial vendors, and other federal installations. These items include standard and specialized parts, material, machine tools, hardware, petroleum products, lumber, steel and electrical plumbing, laboratory and office supplies, etc.
- Uses a number of measuring devices such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, scales and meters as well as conversion charts to ascertain dimensions and make necessary computations.
- Determines the type of item and dimension check criteria using drawings and to use assembly drawings or simple blueprints in identifying parts to determine the completeness of incoming shipments.
- Maintains status of incoming material through accessing automated systems.
- Examines items and compares to purchase order or other documents to verify the correctness of the shipment.
- Assigns sequential control numbers to non-expendable items.
- Furnishes data to stock control, when it must obtain additional information from manufacturers in order to identify equipment.
- Informs users of discrepancies and obtains a decision concerning the item's acceptability.
- Initiates rejection reports, listing faults or defects attesting to nonconformity with order requirements or other discrepancies.
