Director of Infrastructure Solutions – Data Center Colo – San Jose, CA This opportunity is with a leader of mission-critical data center colocation facilities. This firm provides data center solutions custom-fit to the requirements of their client’s mission-critical colo facilities. They provide reliability of mission-critical facilities for many of the world’s largest organizations. Our client is looking for a Director level Data Center Solutions Engineer to join their team. They will support data centers nationwide while serving as the subject matter expert on all data center products, services and solutions. Ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the Mission Critical Data Center / Facilities Marketplace. Candidate’s duties will be responsible leading technical sales engagements; preparing technical solutions/ proposals, building consensus with project teams, presentations, and briefings. Leverage technical engineering experience to create solutions for Hyperscale and Enterprise Customers. This is a highly technical role that requires deep knowledge of technical infrastructure, staying on top of tech trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Candidate should also be versed in site selection, entitlements, development timelines, and budgets. Candidate will also be expected to develop and maintain positive relationships with existing business partners in hopes to generate additional business. Responsibilities: Serve as the technical leader and subject matter expert (SME) on data center infrastructure solutions, supporting the sales and business development teams in closing deals. Possess a deep understanding of building design, construction, and operation. Design the preliminary client solution. Lead and ensure alignment with corporate objectives and client needs. Develop and deliver technical presentations, proposals, and briefings to prospective and existing clients. Work closely with sales, operations, and product teams to define and enhance data center solutions, ensuring they meet customer requirements. Partner with Site Selection team during Sales stage with knowledge of entitlements to understand if proposed data center can allow X amount of generators on the property. Specific knowledge of Mechanical Systems to handle GPUs with liquid cooling solutions / flow rates. Engage with key clients, Hyperscalers, and enterprise customers to provide technical consultation on power, cooling, white space design, and network connectivity solutions. Oversee the design, deployment, and optimization of critical infrastructure within data center environments, including critical power (UPS, Switchgear, Generators, PDUs), HVAC (CRAC, CRAH, Air Handlers), and White Space solutions. Support technical RFP/RFI responses, ensuring alignment between client needs and the company’s data center capabilities. Understand CDE / SOQs. Develop and implement best practices for pre-sales engineering, solution architecture, and client engagement strategies. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve service offerings, ensure operational efficiency, and drive continuous improvement. Stay up to date on data center industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape to maintain the company’s position as a leader in the space. Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and professional organizations such as 7×24 Exchange, Bisnow, DCD, AFCOM, Uptime Institute, iMasons, and ASHRAE. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred; advanced degree a plus. 10-15 + years of experience in data center solutions engineering, pre-sales engineering, or technical sales within the mission-critical industry. Experience leading technical sales engineering teams with a strong focus on data center colocation and interconnection solutions. Experience putting together technical presentations and acting as the technical resource during the Sales process. Deep knowledge of MEP systems within data centers, including critical power infrastructure (UPS, switchgear, generators, PDUs) and cooling systems (CRAC, CRAH, chillers, air handlers, heat exchangers, liquid cooling, etc.). Strong background in data center design, build, and operations, including an understanding of Tier classifications and industry best practices. Understanding of data center infrastructure design and construction techniques, operational requirements and challenges, data center fit-out projects, equipment and technology advances and general industry trends. Design experience establishing infrastructure to support AI / Machine Learning: direct-to-chip, immersion, coldplate; CDU selection; GPU operating profile, etc. Experience working with critical power OEMs (Emerson/Liebert, APC/MGE/Schneider, Eaton/Powerware, etc.) is a plus. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value for clients. Proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.) and CRM platforms such as Salesforce. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients and opportunities simultaneously. Ability to travel up to 60% as needed. Job Summary

The Senior Cloud/Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's cloud and on-premise infrastructure strategy. This role requires a strong understanding of system stability, monitoring, and performance optimization, as well as the ability to tackle complex challenges and drive proactive solutions. As an observability engineer, you will design, implement and maintain systems that collect, analyze and visualize data from software applications and infrastructure. You will provide deep insights into system health, performance and enable a proactive problem identification to optimize monitoring and alerting strategies. You will lead the evolution of observability solutions with the goal of transparency to partner teams.
- Develop and Implement I Strategy: Design and implement a robust infrastructure strategy, including data collection pipelines, data processing, and visualization dashboards, considering scalability and performance needs across diverse systems. This includes metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting to provide end-to-end visibility into system behavior.
- System Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency and reliability. This includes proactive identification of potential issues and implementing preventative measures.
- Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Lead incident response efforts, troubleshoot complex system issues, and drive root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.
- Tooling and Infrastructure: Evaluate, select, and manage observability tools and infrastructure. This may include setting up and maintaining platforms for log aggregation, metric collection, distributed tracing, and alerting. Evaluate and implement various monitoring tools (Prometheus, Datadog, New Relic, VictoriaMetrics etc.) to capture relevant metrics, logs, and distributed traces from applications and infrastructure.
- Alerting and Incident Management: Configure alerts based on defined thresholds and anomalies, ensuring timely notification of potential issues and facilitating rapid response to incidents.
- Data Analysis and Troubleshooting: Analyze collected data to identify performance bottlenecks, root causes of issues, and trends within complex systems, collaborating with engineering teams to resolve problems.
- Automation and Optimization: Develop and implement automation for monitoring and alerting to improve response times and reduce manual effort. Automate monitoring tasks and alerting processes to reduce manual intervention, optimizing the observability platform for efficiency and reliability. Create automations for repetitive tasks (e.g., RMJ automation for new employees).
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with development, operations, and other teams to ensure cloud and infrastructure best practices are integrated into the entire software development lifecycle. Work closely with engineering and operations teams to embed monitoring best practices into applications and tools, ensuring proper instrumentation and data collection.
- Capacity Planning: Utilize observability data to proactively identify potential capacity constraints and inform infrastructure scaling decisions.
- Security and Compliance: Ensure infrastructure practices and tools comply with security and compliance requirements, including access reviews and SSO implementations.
- Problem Solving: Resolve challenges related to system stability, data connectivity, and application configurations.
- Dashboard Development: Create comprehensive and user-friendly dashboards that provide real-time insights into system health, key performance indicators, and operational metrics.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5-7 years systems administration/engineering.
- Strong understanding of monitoring principles and best practices.
- Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana, Jaeger, DataDog, New Relic, VictoriaMetrics, Zipkin or similar.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Powershell).
- Designed and maintained layer 2 / 3 network infrastructure, including vlans, routing, acls, on multi vendor switches and firewalls. (HP, Dell, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Sophos)
- Configured and troubleshoot IP Sec VPN tunnels, BGP routing, subnet peering across hybrid environments.
- Ability to interpret complex data sets, identify patterns, and draw actionable insights.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of Windows Server and Linux systems.
- Nice to have a background in DevOps practices and principles.
- Experience driving security reviews, documentation, and working with cross-functional/product team members
- Experience developing customer-driven architectures.
- Experience with SSO and MFA is a plus.

Skylo is hiring a Senior RAN Implementation Engineer for our network implementation team. Reporting directly to the Director of Network Implementation, the selected candidate will develop and manage RAN infrastructure along with EMS and RMS.
