Fermentation Application Development Specialist

Responsibilities:
  • Hands-on laboratory work to design, execute, analyze, report and present experimental plans and results
  • Support day-to-day laboratory operations
  • Generate technical data and support for application development projects and customer support in fuel ethanol and carbohydrate processing
  • Contribute to the technical development of enzyme and yeast products during the commercialization process: formulation and stability, performance evaluation, marketing material generation, scale-up, and post-launch support
  • Prepare and present presentations on marketing and technical content
  • Support Sales and Technical Service efforts through analysis of customer samples via biochemical and analytical chemistry techniques, lab-scale simulations of customer processes, method development, and remote and onsite technical support
  • Interact with Sales & Technical Service teams as well as with North American Grain Processing customers to understand regional aspects of their processes and needs
  • Design, execute, interpret, and report on experiments at lab- and pilot-scales

Required Qualifications:

Educational requirement
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a closely related field with 6+ years of relevant experience
  • OR MSc with a relevant academic background with 3+ years relevant work experience
Experiences and skills required
  • Lab research experience in an academic or industrial setting
  • Understanding of enzyme kinetics and fermentation basics
  • Experience performing biochemical and/or fermentation experiments at lab- and/or pilot-scales
  • Experience with analytical techniques relevant for monitoring biochemical and fermentation processes such as HPLC, IC, GC, spectrophotometry, viscosity, biochemical assays, etc

+ Develops the detailed knowledge of individual prospect operations targeting specific needs which may be opportunities for marketing company programs.
+ Ensures the identification of expertise required addressing individual prospect requirements; identifies resources for prospect solicitation and service teams.
+ Utilizes the appropriate national resources to facilitate responses and pricing for RFPs, proposals, and presentations.
+ Manages the design of service programs ensuring client need fulfillment.
+ Develops and implements an annual sales and service plan including identification of potential client prospects, their needs, and the methodology of presenting company's ability to fulfill those needs.
+ Meets sales goals of $2-3 million.
+ Travels as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Bachelor's degree with major in Business Administration, Finance or Risk Management preferred. Licenses as required.
Experience: Ten (10) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include five (5) years of relationship building in the group life, disability, and absence management area. Advanced sales and technical ability in the 1000+ market
Skills: Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills, excellent interpersonal skills, PC literate, including Microsoft Office products, strong organizational skills, excellent negotiation skills
