**Responsibilities**
Functions as a clinical support and interdisciplinary team member to meet patient and family care needs. Works directly with RN/RT(R) to identify patient needs and contribute to the plan of care. **Responsibilities**
The Patient Care Specialist (PCS) provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) and accepts delegation from care team members: physicians, advanced practice providers, RN, LPN, MA in meeting the needs of the patient/family. The direct care role includes providing care, collecting and documenting patient care data and communicating information to patients, families, and care team members. In the indirect patient care role, the PCS supports the unit by helping to maintain the environment of care and performing unit-based clerical duties. The PCS demonstrates strong organizational skills and teamwork. A commitment to continuous learning, quality, and excellence are important components of this role. Utilization of multiple computer applications is required. This role will work with patients throughout the life span with multiple conditions.
**Qualifications**
Must be at least 18 years of age prior to start date.

Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer skills and experience with other technological devices (i.e. cell phone, laptop, etc.). High School Graduate or GED equivalency preferred. Working knowledge of computers and software applications required. Demonstrated ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. **Patient Care Floater/Medical Assistant**
The Patient Care Floater/MA performs Medical Assistant duties in multiple departments as assigned on a routine "fill-in" basis. This position functions as an important member of the healthcare teams by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients' care, comfort, and safety. The MA performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

The Patient Care Floater - CMA performs Medical Assistant duties in multiple departments as assigned on a routine "fill-in" basis. This position functions as an important member of the healthcare teams by providing basic clinical, clerical, and technical support to assist providers in planning for patients' care, comfort, and safety. The individual performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
***This position is eligible for an additional $1.00 per hour float pay.***

Medical Surgical: 40-bed inpatient unit that cares for a diverse patient population including general medical, general surgery, orthopedics, oncology, and urology.

Medical Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit: 40-bed inpatient unit that cares for surgical, general medical, and interventional cardiac care.

Neuro/Peds/Trauma: 40-bed inpatient unit that cares for surgical, general medical, traumas, neurological and neurosurgical, and pediatrics.

Must be 18 years of age prior to start date.

Additional qualifications:

Completion of 12 college credits -OR- High school diploma/ GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent preferred. Able to adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.

License or certification:

Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
