Position Purpose:
Associates in Freight/Receiving positions ensure the store is stocked and ready for business every day. They load and unload trucks, move material from the receiving area throughout the store, may operate forklifts and may perform critical functions for maintaining proper on-hands and pricing for our customers. **Job Title: Materials Handler**
**Job Description**
The primary objective of this role is to support both internal and external customers by efficiently performing manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. This position typically operates with minimal supervision.
**Responsibilities**
+ Verify counts, weights, or measures and maintain records comparing incoming and outgoing shipments against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records.
+ Utilize various manual and automated systems to track shipments and accomplish tasks.
+ Deliver or arrange for pickup of incoming items, determine method of shipment or delivery, prepare packaging, and apply shipping charges or postage when necessary.
+ Maintain an inventory of open stock items, coordinate inventory requirements and procurement details with vendors, and track the shipping and delivery of items.
+ Account for and report inventory surplus, product returns, and any damages.
+ Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, bins, and shelves by hand.
+ Operate a forklift, pallet jacks, dollies, or hand truck to move, reorganize, or convey items.
+ Requisition and maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
+ Assist in training new employees.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience in materials handling or shipping/receiving
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience working with computers.
+ 1-3 years of experience in a comparable work environment preferred.
