JOB SUMMARY
Driver is responsible for driving and delivering a product to the customer. The worker may drive to multiple states. Required to enter and exit the truck. The driver must exit for various other reasons. Driving on highways and other roads and streets required to reach location. Seat belts and following traffic laws are required. Must Maintain Class A CDL.

**_What Truck Driver contributes to Cardinal Health_**
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
Responsible for the movement of materials and products between suppliers, manufacturing, warehousing and the customer. Management of transportation (trucking) assets and systems to gain greater service, cost efficiency and optimization of processes.
**_Responsibilities:_**
+ Shuttle 53 foot trailers to and from our off site warehouse for raw material deliveries.
+ Pull loaded trailers from our docks and replacing them with empty trailers from our trailer pool.
+ Perform a yard sweep once a day and complete an inventory of loaded and unloaded trailers.
+ Expected to be trained to assist in picking raw material from our outside warehouse as the need arises.
+ Pull up yard trailers to assigned docks as needed to support plant operations.
+ Periodically will be required to bring the tractor to Ryder for fuel and maintenance
+ Check with security each morning to get information on what trailers were delivered the night before
+ Driver is responsible on Friday afternoons, to take the bills to the guard for weekend pickup and on Monday mornings, to pick up the bills from the guard and take them to the warehouse office clerk
+ Comply with all Cardinal safety requirements .
**_Qualifications_**
+ 2-4 years of experience preferred
+ High School Diploma or GED preferred
+ CDL is required for this role
+ Current Medical Examiner's Certificate preferred

Safely operates a heavy-duty truck to perform assigned duties on transfer routes.
**II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

+ Notifies Operations Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage.
+ Notifies Dispatch or Operations Manager of issues as prescribed by Service Machine protocol, including blocked containers, potential missed pick-ups or problems that arise on the route.
+ Communicates customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Operations Manager.
+ Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customer's location clean and free of debris.
+ Completes and submits customer tickets when excess yardage must be removed.
+ Positions containers on the customer's property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced, containers are set in an upright position, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic.
+ Follows route assignments throughout the day and completes all documentation when checking-in at the end of the route.

Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Pass a Ryder Drug Test
- Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
- Pass a DOT physical
- Pass a Ryder road test
- Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
- Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
- 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
- 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
- 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
- Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
- Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
Important Note: Additional requirements may be required in different locations and/or accounts.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
- Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards Maintaining accurate records and logs
- Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
- Performs other duties as assigned

2500 Sign-on Bonus: Pays 1250 at 30 days after hire + 1250 at 90 days after hire.
