We are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer with a background in Geology, Environmental Science, or Environmental Engineering who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment. Candidates must reside in Florida and have direct experience with Florida regulations and field conditions. This is a field-forward position with a focus on practical problem-solving and project leadership in the Southeastern region .
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct geotechnical investigations including site reconnaissance, subsurface explorations, soil/rock classification, and in-situ testing
- Analyze data for foundation design, slope stability, settlement analysis, and pavement recommendations
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports with practical engineering solutions
- Develop project scopes, proposals, and budgets; assist with project management and client communications
- Oversee field exploration programs, coordinate lab testing, and ensure QA/QC on deliverables
- Work closely with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with FDEP, FDOT, and other Florida-specific environmental/geotechnical regulations
- Mentor junior staff and support business development through local networking and technical presentations
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering or applied environmental consulting
- PE or the ability to obtain PE in Florida within 12 months
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, gINT, GeoStudio, or similar software
- Strong writing skills and experience preparing detailed technical reports
- Current driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites across Central Texas

Responsibilities

Contribute to the pre-construction civil engineering design, planning, modification, permitting, and analysis for multiple projects ranging in size and scope.

Conduct investigations, site observations, review of submittals, complete and review analysis, and design calculations; execute and manage the preparation of drawings and specifications; assist with mentoring of junior staff; manage project budgets and schedules; interact with clients; and prepare technical reports.
Responsible for analysis and design of structural elements for commercial, industrial and food processing facilities. Applications include foundations, mat slab, structural steel framing, tilt-up walls, precast concrete structures, concrete design, masonry walls, wood design and light-gauge metal framing. Preparation of contract documents, calculations, observations reports, and estimates.
Working knowledge of building codes and standards such as IBC, FBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI, as well as of AutoCAD, Revit, RAM Structural System, RISA 3D, Enercalc and Excel is preferred.
Ability to interpret codes, insurance underwriter requirements and adherence to client specific standards
Assist with proposal development, both scope and man hour estimating
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work on multiple tasks while participating on varying project teams to provide multiple cost-effective solutions
Masters in structural engineering from an ABET- accredited university with a minimum of 15 years' experience
Professional engineer licensed in CA, IL, NY, and Washington is a plus

Essential Functions :
- Performs moderate engineering tasks, including utilizing production software and developing impact studies, cost analyses, and design requirements.
- Leads data collection efforts.
- Prepares portions of project documents utilizing advanced software and technology. Edits specifications and discipline reports. Prepare drawings, visual aids, and presentations.
