Our client, a leading chemical manufacturing company, is seeking a
highly analytical and innovative
Process Optimization Engineer
to join their team in
Austin, Texas, US . This critical role
focuses on enhancing the efficiency, safety, and profitability of
existing chemical processes and production lines. The successful
candidate will leverage their chemical engineering expertise to
identify bottlenecks, implement improvements, and drive continuous
operational excellence. This position requires a strong blend of
technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to
sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze existing chemical processes to identify areas for
optimization, including efficiency improvements, cost reduction, waste
minimization, and energy conservation.
- Design and implement
process modifications, scale-ups, and new equipment integrations to
enhance production capacity and product quality.
- Conduct
feasibility studies, process simulations, and economic analyses for
proposed improvements.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and
provide engineering support to production teams to resolve process
deviations.
- Develop and update process flow diagrams (PFDs),
piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and other engineering
documentation.
- Ensure all process designs and modifications
comply with relevant safety standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and
environmental regulations.
- Lead or participate in Root Cause
Analysis (RCA) for process upsets and deviations.
- Collaborate
with R&D, production, maintenance, and quality control teams to
implement solutions and ensure smooth transitions.
- Monitor
key performance indicators (KPIs) and report on the effectiveness of
implemented process improvements.
- Stay current with
advancements in chemical engineering, process technology, and industry
best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in process engineering or process
optimization roles within the chemical, petrochemical, or
pharmaceutical industries.
- Proven track record of
successfully implementing process improvements that resulted in
measurable gains.
- Proficiency in process simulation software
(e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II) and data analysis tools.
- Strong
understanding of chemical unit operations, thermodynamics, and mass
transfer.
- Knowledge of process safety management (PSM)
principles and environmental regulations.
- Excellent
analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of
presenting complex technical information clearly.
- Ability to
work independently on projects and collaboratively within
multidisciplinary teams.
- Hands-on experience with process
control systems (DCS, PLC) is a plus.
