Full Job Description
Our client, a global leader in advanced chemical manufacturing, is
seeking an experienced and analytical Process Optimization Engineer to
join their state-of-the-art facility in
Chicago, Illinois, US .
This critical role is focused on enhancing the efficiency, safety, and
productivity of existing chemical manufacturing processes. As a
Process Optimization Engineer, you will identify bottlenecks,
implement improvements, and apply advanced engineering principles to
maximize yield, reduce waste, and improve overall operational
performance.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong
background in chemical engineering, a deep understanding of process
control, and a proven ability to drive continuous improvement
initiatives. You should be adept at data analysis, problem-solving,
and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including production,
R&D, and maintenance. This position offers a dynamic environment where
your technical expertise will directly contribute to operational
excellence and sustainable manufacturing practices.
Key
Responsibilities: - Analyze existing chemical
manufacturing processes to identify areas for optimization, cost
reduction, and quality improvement.
- Design and implement
process modifications, including equipment upgrades, new control
strategies, and operational procedure changes.
- Conduct root
cause analysis for process deviations, quality issues, and operational
inefficiencies.
- Utilize process simulation software and data
analysis tools to model and predict process behavior.
- Develop
and implement advanced process control strategies to improve
stability, yield, and throughput.
- Collaborate with production
teams to train operators on new procedures and ensure smooth
implementation of process changes.
- Lead and participate in
continuous improvement projects, applying methodologies such as Lean
Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
- Ensure all process modifications
comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality
specifications.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and
report on the impact of optimization efforts.
- Prepare
detailed engineering reports, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs.
- Stay current with industry best practices, new technologies,
and regulatory requirements in chemical manufacturing.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's
degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of
experience in process engineering or process optimization within a
chemical manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of
chemical reaction engineering, mass and heat transfer, thermodynamics,
and fluid mechanics.
- Proficiency in process simulation
software (e.g., Aspen Plus, Hysys) and data analysis tools (e.g.,
Python, R, MATLAB, statistical software).
- Experience with
process control systems (DCS, PLC) and instrumentation.
- Proven track record of successfully optimizing chemical
processes and delivering measurable results.
- Excellent
analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the
ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge
of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black
Belt certification a plus).
