Full Job Description
Emory University and its Goizueta Business School are seeking to
recruit an accomplished academic research professional for a newly
endowed Distinguished Professorship in Entrepreneurship. Located in
Atlanta, the hub for technology and venture creation in the Southeast,
our goal is to become a pre-eminent business school in one of the most
important sectors and drivers of the U.S. economy.
We are looking
for an established scholar with an excellent record in research on
entrepreneurship. In our view entrepreneurship research spans
multiple disciplines, drawing from economics, management, sociology,
psychology, technology and operations, and finance. Scholars with an
interest in social enterprises will also have an opportunity to engage
with our Business and Society Institute, which among other activities,
runs the Start: ME accelerator, a 4-month program that provides
business training, mentorship, and investment to microbusinesses in
four Atlanta neighborhoods. In addition to raising the visibility of
entrepreneurship research at the Goizueta Business School, the
selected candidate is expected to pursue two additional
objectives.
First, they are expected to extend the capabilities and
programmatic reach of the Roberto C. Goizueta Center for
Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI). Second, the selected candidate
is expected to work with the Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship and
various units of Emory University including the Robert W. Woodruff
Health Sciences Center, on the commercialization of technology
developed by graduate students and faculty at Emory University as well
as clinicians throughout our vast healthcare system.
Key
responsibilities for the holder of this distinguished professorship
include:
+ Conducting agenda setting research in the field of
entrepreneurship
+ Playing a leadership role in the
entrepreneurship endeavors ofthe Goizueta Business School by
collaborating with key stakeholders within Emory and the community,
including faculty, students, alums, and staff, to ensure its
success
