The applicable salary range for this position is $16,000- 145,000 USD, which is dependent on a variety of factors including relevant experience, location, business needs and market demand. This role may also be eligible for short-term or long-term incentive compensation, including, but not limited to, cash bonuses and stock program participation. In This Role, You'll:

  • Design and build a high-performance, scalable, end-to-end data platform for hardware engineering
  • Design and build a delightful user interface for visualizing and transforming millions of data points
  • Work closely with customers, including hardware engineers, to understand their problems and find efficient solutions
  • Help define engineering culture, standards, and processes
  • Collaborate with peers on architecture, design, and code reviews
The Skillset You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, math, physics, or STEM discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering or data engineering
  • Experience designing and building large-scale, distributed systems or web applications using Go, Python, or an equivalent language
  • Self-starter, able to navigate ambiguity and changing priorities
  • Team player with excellent communication skills and a collaborative work ethic
Bonus Points:
  • Experience working with in-stream data processing and analytics using Apache Kafka, Flink, Beam, or similar
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL, Druid, Pinot, Timescale, or similar
  • Experience with data exploration tools like Grafana, Jupyter Notebooks, Metabase, PowerBI, or similar
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles: version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment, and monitoring
  • Front-end experience in React or a similar JavaScript framework
Engineering At Sift:

You'll have the opportunity to help evolve and scale our platform because we're still in the early stages of building the product. Relevant technologies include:
  • Web frontend & backend: ECharts, Go, gRPC, PostgreSQL, Protobuf, Radix, React, Redux, and TypeScript
  • Data : Arrow, DataFusion, Flink, Parquet, and Rust
  • Infrastructure: Argo CD, AWS, Docker, GitHub Actions, Grafana, Kubernetes, Kustomize, Linux, Prometheus, and Terragrunt

Location:

Sift's headquarters is in El Segundo, CA . We collaborate in person twice a week-on Mondays and Thursdays -and come together for a full week every two months. While we prefer team members to be local, we're open to relocating candidates to LA or considering remote work from the San Francisco area for the right candidate.

Salary range: $150,000 - $200,000 per year. Plus equity and benefits.

Scope

As a Software Engineer, you bring strong programming skills and a keen eye for detail to develop and test high-quality software solutions. You collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to implement features that meet customer requirements and align with industry standards. You are comfortable working with existing codebases, contributing to new development, and ensuring code quality through thorough testing. You stay current with evolving technologies and best practices, continuously seeking opportunities to grow your technical expertise.

In this role, you will help design, develop, maintain, and support various Houlihan Lokey (HL) Custom Dev Applications Team Technology systems. You will assist in managing cloud solutions, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring smooth operation of web apps and integrations. Additionally, you will help educate users, uphold security standards, and contribute to app modernization to enhance performance and scalability. Your efforts will support the integrity and reliability of the HL Custom Dev Apps Team Technology platform, helping the organization stay innovative in financial services.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop new applications, websites, and system enhancements as well as help maintain existing applications and systems.
  • Deliver high-quality code both individually and within a team structure.
  • Recommend enhancements and improvements when appropriate.
  • Develop with usability and scalability in mind.
  • Adhere to software development life cycle (SDLC) methodology and best practices.
  • Review code and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
  • Create visual and functional specifications when necessary.
  • Develop interactive websites and solutions using C#, ASP.NET, Angular, Entity Framework, and SQL.
  • Support acceptance tests and production tests.
  • Produce emergency and permanent fixes.
  • Implement preventive actions to improve application reliability and performance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Over 6 years of in-depth programming skills in .NET, Entity Framework, REST API, and unit testing.
  • Experience with Angular 13+ is beneficial.
  • Thorough understanding and experience working with large relational databases (SQL experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with Agile SCRUM methodologies is preferred.
