Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in **Northridge, CA** is currently seeking an **Aeronautical** **Engineering Manager 1** to lead the Electromechanical Design team in supporting various programs such as **AARGM, AARGM-ER, and SiAW** within the **Advanced Weapons Business Unit** .
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Department Head, the Aeronautical Engineering Manager 1 will be responsible for supporting the implementation of strategic goals and objectives as applicable to Electromechanical Design to support overall business unit objectives. The roles and responsibilities of their team include the following: conceptualize, design, and develop electromechanical assemblies, components, and systems for flight vehicles and special test equipment. There is a significant focus on cable design, integration of COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) hardware, and the development of test hardware for production environments and customer deliverables.
The role will support ensuring electromechanical engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's established policies and procedures.
This position requires the selected candidate to work on-site in **Northridge; CA** on a **9/80 schedule** . Telework is not available for this position.

**Key responsibilities include:**
+ Manage a department of 15+ Electromechanical Design Engineers.
+ Own the release of Special Test Equipment (STE) and missile cable drawings for multiple programs.
+ Support team and business by improving efficiency of drawing release and product delivery.
+ Work with Mechanical Engineering Department Head and Program Leadership to ensure programs are adequately and appropriately staffed.
+ Act as an advisor to staff members to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems.
+ Coach and develop staff by providing an environment that encourages ongoing professional growth. Ensure staff receives the appropriate training and skill development opportunities to be successful in their roles.
+ Participate in process improvement initiatives related to STE, cabling, and the entire mechanical engineering department to ensure alignment of operations initiatives.
+ Provide resources for proposals; participate in proposal writing as needed.
+ Develop and administer budgets and standards of performance.
+ Perform reviews of department work products (e.g., technical reports, drawings, basis of estimates, etc.) for completeness.
+ Participate in Peer Reviews and Major Design Reviews.
+ Support the Business Unit's initiative to move to Model Based Engineering.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a MS with 3+ years of experience.
+ Demonstrated experience in leading personnel.
+ Experience writing processes for Mechanical Engineering.
+ Experience with electromechanical components and integration into systems.
+ Experience using Creo (7.0 preferred) and Teamcenter or similar CAD/PLM systems.
+ Experience completing and reviewing tolerance analyses
+ Experience validating electromechanical designs utilizing engineering principles and prototyping
+ Knowledge of ASME Drawing Standards.
+ Ability to work with multiple functions such as Supply Chain, Operations, Manufacturing, and Electrical Engineering in the development and procurement of sound designs.
+ Ability to obtain a US Gov't Secret clearance within a timeframe set forth by management.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
+ Demonstrated experience with additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping.
+ Experience with Model-Based Definition and Product Manufacturing information or other digital thread/digital transformation efforts.
+ Experience initiating, reviewing, and/or updating design documentation and engineering drawings, engineering change orders, non-conformances, and root cause/corrective actions in the sustaining of current production.
+ Experience in program leadership.
+ Experience working in the Defense Industry.

Salary Range: $118,000.00 - $177,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. The Boeing KC-46 Tanker Mission Systems Avionics (MSA) team is seeking an experienced and dedicated **Aircraft Defensive Systems Design Engineer and Equipment Manager (Experienced or Lead)** to join our KC-46 Mission Systems team in **Everett, WA** or **Tukwila, WA** based on selected employee preference and agreement with the manager.
The aircraft defensive systems comprise of the Infrared Countermeasures system and the Radio Frequency Self Defensive System (aka the Radar Warning Receiver system). This role will be responsible for the engineering design, integration, test, certification, and hardware/software management for assigned aircraft defensive hardware systems.
The Boeing KC-46 Pegasus is the latest and most advanced USAF aerial refueling tanker aircraft designed to support multi-role missions including refueling, cargo/passenger transport, and medevac airlift. The KC-46 is a military commercial derivative aircraft based on the Boeing 767-2C aircraft and modified according to USAF specifications for the primary mission of aerial refueling US and Allied aircraft using either the Hose & Drogue systems or the Boom. The KC-46 is also equipped with a suite of self-defensive and tactical situational awareness systems that allows the aircraft to get closer to the fight when supporting combat missions.
This is an exciting time on the program as we begin to develop new system designs and capability upgrades for the current and future KC-46 aircraft.
**Position Responsibilities:**
+ Lead and/or support the engineering design, development, analysis, testing, and certification of the defensive hardware systems to ensure seamless integration with software and higher-level systems and platforms
+ Develop, validate, and verify system level requirements
+ Collaborate on the design, development, integration, testing, and operational capability of various programs
+ Lead and/or assist in the development of test plans and procedures in support of certification activities
+ Coordinate system-level integration for defensive systems hardware and software
+ Oversee the definition and execution of critical tests of various types to validate the performance of designs against system requirements
+ Provide leadership and/or in the technical management of relevant aspects of critical suppliers and Boeing software team members to ensure compliance with design requirements. Support for products will encompass the entire lifecycle, including proposal, development, production, in-service support, as well as flight and laboratory testing.
+ Gather information to support proposal development and conduct trade studies for future upgrades and new business opportunities
+ Coordinate and ensure FAA, military certification, and Boeing airworthiness activities for the defensive hardware systems and its components
+ Coordinate and consult with specialty engineering Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) such as safety, electromagnetic emissions, and cybersecurity
+ Provide troubleshooting support for production labs and aircraft when technical issues occur
+ Conduct technical issue investigations and Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCAs)
**This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.**

**Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):**
