Summary:
Designs, plans and coordinates the integration of machinery, equipment and process to deliver a solution into a customer's manufacturing process. Analyzes customer requirements, company products, and peripheral technology to implement applications solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the customer part geometry to determine optimum processing using the company's products including tooling selection, cutting time and surface finish.
- Utilize third party products in developing solutions. This interface includes researching product capabilities, integrating these tools into solutions, defining installation and maintenance needs, and conducting training classes.
- Write and edit tool paths.
- Prepare pre-sale cutting demonstrations (both custom & general) which match the customers concerns to assist in closing the sale and differentiating Makino from the competition. Design and procure equipment in order to set up these demonstrations. Document results of demonstrations for use in future sales.
- Provide on-going customer applications assistance after the sale including customer site visits. Leverage distributor knowledge and resources as appropriate.
- Support regional and national machine tool shows with cutting demonstrations and technical discussions with customers.
- Participate in meetings, seminars and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in the field and associate support. Apply state-of-the-art Die/Mold technology (including peripheral equipment and supplies) to develop the optimal customer solution.
- Provides technical information as needed to other departments such as marketing, legal and engineering.
- Make sales calls with Regional Manager and/or distributor salesman(salesmen) on potential Die/Mold customer(s).
- Others duties as assigned.

Summary
The Application Engineer provides pre-sales technical expertise and quoting support to the sales team, channel partners, and customers. + Apply expertise of ceramic composite processing and properties to support the manufacture and design of CMC engine hardware.
+ Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
+ Document, analyze, and communicate results of technical data generated consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
+ Apply knowledge of best practices and how own area of responsibility integrates with others.
+ Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience; build relationships with manufacturing source(s)
