Job Description

The Therapy Services Reviewer is responsible for the review of medical records to determine if requests for therapy services (physical therapy, occupational therapy) were medically necessary and filed appropriately.

Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday 8:00am-5:00pm or Sunday-Thursday 8:00am-5:00pm

Location: Virtual - This role enables associates to work virtually full-time, with the exception of required in-person training sessions (when indicated), providing maximum flexibility and autonomy. This approach promotes productivity, supports work-life integration, and ensures essential face-to-face onboarding and skill development.

How you will make an impact:

  • Follows the system guidelines that makes decisions on approval for care for a patient.
  • Processes system generated decisions for authorization requests, meeting all contract requirements, processes, and operational unit goals to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Documents findings, develops analyses, and submits reports to the appropriate departments in accordance with government regulations and requirements.
  • Researches and obtains additional data, consults with clinical reviewers and medical directors, when necessary.
  • Acts as a resource for internal and external customers.
  • May participate in intradepartmental teams, projects, and initiatives.
  • Maintains quality and productivity standards and ensures reviews are conducted within required timeframes.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires graduate of a college level program in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech language pathology or an accredited two-year program for a Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist Assistant, or Speech Language Pathologist Assistant and minimum of 1 year of clinical experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Current active unrestricted license or certification as a physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist assistant, or speech language pathologist assistant in applicable state required. Certification and/or licensure appropriate to field of specialty is required.

Job Summary

The Therapist will provide individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy to referred clients both in-person and virtually. They will provide strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed services to clients with mental health diagnoses and co-occurring substance use disorders utilizing a harm reduction approach. 

Trilogy, Inc. invests in clinicians to get advanced clinical training (e.g., EMDR, DBT, TF-CBT). Trilogy, Inc. provides the flexibility similar to an outpatient group therapy practice, with the structure of a community mental health agency. Our Therapists are paid for non-direct service activities (like attending meetings and trainings, completing clinical assessments and notes, consulting with other therapists and case collaterals) and have flexibility in choosing their schedule. Although there is an extensive waitlist, Trilogy, Inc. provides new clinicians with an additional stipend as they are building their caseload.

Compensation is discussed thoroughly in first interview. Hourly range $22 - 40/hr

Job Functions:

  • Provide comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment services to adults.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans with the input of the client and their team, which includes providers and natural supports.
  • Collaborate with members of the client’s team to ensure quality of treatment and coordination of care.
  • Serve as an advocate for clients, linking them to needed community services; assess client’s personal, medical, social, emotional, and environmental situation to plan for linkage and treatment course.
  • Provide strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed clinical services to children, adolescents, and adults with mental health diagnoses and co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Maintain documentation and chart in compliance with Medicaid, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Services (CARF), and agency standards.
  • Meet or exceed direct service target.
  • Supervise and assign tasks to student workers.
  • Perform other related duties and/or projects as assigned.

 Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other closely related field required
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, or Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts in Illinois highly preferred
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with people with mental health diagnoses and/or substance use diagnoses
  • Experience working with adults in an outpatient setting and/or transition age youth and their families highly preferred
  • Availability to work some evenings/weekends as directed
  • Bilingual, Spanish speaker preferred

Responsibilities: Scope of Services
The Independent Contractor-Therapy Services will provide therapeutic mental health services to clients in alignment with the contractor's license, training, and scope of practice. These services aim to support individuals' mental health and well-being and may include, but are not limited to:

  • develop individualized treatment plans/Family Service Plans tailored to each client's needs and in collaboration with DFCS case plan.
  • Apply clinical techniques to address symptoms related to anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral disorders, and other mental health diagnoses
  • Provide timely , goal-oriented services to assigned clients and adjust treatment plans as clinically indicated
  • Maintain documentation of services provided, including treatment plans, progress notes, and related records, in accordance with contractual standards
  • Participate in case reviews, clinical consultation, and collaborative planning with external providers, as requested
  • Refer or coordinate with crisis response teams and emergency services when appropriate
  • Offer guidance, education, and resource referrals to support client recovery and goal attainment
  • Maintain compliance with ethical standards, licensing board rules, DFCS State Org Chart, and all applicable regulations
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Social Work , Counseling, or a related behavioral health field
  • Active licensure or license-eligible as LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or equivalent in the service state
  • Minimum of two years' experience providing therapy services to children and/or families
  • Must secure independent clinical supervision if not fully licensed
  • Reliable means of providing services (in-person or virtual) and ability to meet contractual documentation expectations
  • Contractor must live within 100 miles of the assigned reporting office
Deliverables
  • Completion of clinical documentation within agreed-upon timeframes
  • Accurate and timely invoicing aligned with completed service units
