Provide Senior Architect support to Army PEO Aviation development programs and acquisition initiatives employing a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) using Digital Engineering and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools and techniques. Advise and provide support to efforts in requirements development, functional decomposition, and allocation to hardware, software, operator and other segments and system components including the identification of key/critical interfaces with associated data rights strategies. Represent PM AMSA within the PEO Aviation, PEO C3N, and other Army Enterprise working groups and IPTs for shaping strategic architecture initiatives and in the definition and development of enterprise architecture materials and processes. Support PM AMSA product offices in system and subsystem level digital artifact development and in the development and execution of system integration plans, procedures, and scenarios used in the conduct of software and hardware system integration, testing, and analysis of integration results to assess system impacts. Specific duties include: • Provide Systems Engineering subject matter expertise by applying knowledge and proficiency in state-of-the-art Digital Engineering and MBSE tools to capture and decompose operational, functional, and system architectures in alignment with the PEO Aviation enterprise, system, and component MOSA goals for acquisition. • Serves as a technical expert and lead architect who determines the overall structure of systems for avionics and mission command software and hardware to meet the system quality attributes and all stakeholder interests related to MBSE, OSA, and FACE implementations, including programs beyond PEO Aviation that directly support PEO Aviation systems. • Supports and conducts systems and software requirements analysis, requirements allocation, architecture model construction, system and component design, and system integration for Army aircraft and mission command systems. • Identifies the system hardware and software components, determines components and strategies for re-use, and makes cross-cutting and system-wide design decisions including hardware selection, communication protocols, coding standards and software development tools. • Represents PM AMSA and/or PEO AVN in the development of consortia and industry consensus-based standards including Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE), Hardware Open System Technology (HOST), Sensor Open System Architecture (SOSA), C5ISR/EW Modular Open Suite of Standards (CMOSS). • Develops hardware and software interface and performance requirements to translate Stakeholder/System needs and acquisition objectives into system requirements. • Develops comprehensive OSA strategies for PM AMSA which capture aviation enterprise capabilities and MOSA objectives and provides the variation points necessary to meet platform/product specific requirements. • Directs the development of Component Specification Models (CSMs) for use in program acquisition to include the development of requirements, functional architecture, logical architecture, component behavior, interfaces, and data models with traceability tying together the structural, behavioral aspects with requirements and performance constraints. • Conduct research into commercial, government, academic, and international best practices for architecture strategies and leverage other efforts where possible. • Provide recommendations for development and implementation of appropriate policy measures to achieve architecture and PM AMSA goals. • Identify candidate S&T Needs to support MOSA and open architecture projects across the portfolio.
Required Education and Experience:
- BS in engineering or related technical field
- 15+ years of relevant engineering experience, and 8+ years of MBSE experience.
- Experience developing, interpreting, and maintaining models using SysML, DoDAF (via UPDM or UAF).
- Experience in leading and managing engineering teams in a diverse organization and workforce.
- Experience in applying systems engineering processes for the development and documentation of system and test requirements and assessment/verification requirements.
- Experience with SW intensive product development and integration, real-time safety critical systems, mission command information systems.
- Proven track record in system and software architecture and design, systems engineering and development.
- Ability to identify and align internal and external stakeholders with organizational strategic goals.
- Knowledge of software architecture frameworks and standards and working experience developing software architectures.
- Experience applying standards for systems safety including RTCA DO-178B/C, and RTCA DO-254.

**Summary**
The College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs hires **Lecturers** in **Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering** for temporary, non-tenure track positions to fill open sections of courses across the curriculum. Appointments are part-time (usually less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.
Lecturers will teach classes for the department of department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid. Courses may be at either graduate or undergraduate levels and can cover any of the broad spectrum of topic areas in both mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering.
**Essential Functions**
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
+ Provide instruction to undergraduate/graduate students based on course modality including class and/or lab preparation, administering exams, grading, and maintaining office hours.
+ Maintain, develop and schedule student learning experiences to achieve desired learning outcomes.
+ Plan, develop, and implement evaluation tools to assess student progress towards course learning objectives.
+ Be familiar with learning management systems, such as Canvas.

**Qualifications**
+ Education:
+ A Master's degree mechanical or aerospace engineering or a closely related field is required.
+ A terminal degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or closely related field (requirement to teach graduate courses) is preferred.

+ Relevant industry experience that includes current engagement in professional activities is preferred.
