The Controls Engineer at BlueOval SK Battery Park in Glendale, Kentucky will have a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a key member of the start-up team, launching the facility from the ground up.
Key Areas of Responsibility:

Use MES Plant monitoring software to review cycle times of automation, review and follow up on automation project's and installations

Troubleshoot PLC, robot, and other automation problems. Lead 4D efforts with significant downtime events

Update program backups for automation

Program new installations of tooling and conveyor systems

Reprogram automation for engineering changes and improvements

Coordinate automation campaigns
Minimum Requirements:

Fundamental working knowledge of PLC logic and controls

Preferred Requirements:

What You'll Be Doing:
- Operate hand and power tools for mechanical, hydraulic and/or electronic assembly.

Job Description
The purpose of this position is to perform the essential job duties and functions for projects related to EV battery manufacturing (as listed below) with the overall objective of establishing an execution framework on the project that complies with the contract and ensures the safety, quality, value, timeliness, and Fluor profitability of the completed project. This position is accountable for performing all project management responsibilities on a medium to large sized, moderate risk engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) or services project or assigned responsibility for a substantial area of a mega project. When acting in the role of a Proposal Manager, this position is responsible for managing completion of technical and commercial proposals, providing proposed Fluor project organization, project planning, means and methods of project execution, schedule preparation, cost estimating, and commercial strategy.
- Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) are emphasized throughout all phases of the project
- Ensure execution of all aspects of the project in accordance with contractual obligations, Fluors Operating System Requirements (OSR) and the relevant Operating System Implementation Plan (OSIP)
- Ensure full compliance with Fluor prime contract regarding client reporting, notifications, project system start-up and close-out requirements
- Ensure that project requirements for Baseline Centric Execution, safety, quality, and productivity are met in all locations managed by Fluor where work is being performed
- Establish the project baseline (as defined in the OSR) and ensure that it is fully documented, updated throughout all project phases, and appropriately communicated to the Fluor project team
- Deliver the project in accordance with the project execution and commercial baseline

- Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twelve (12) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to sixteen (16) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

The selected candidate will leverage the capabilities of the Materials Engineering Research Facility (MERF), a pre-pilot-scale research and development facility well-equipped for process development, scale-up, and prototyping. The Postdoctoral Appointee will be responsible for integrating materials processing with electrochemical performance objectives, establishing scalable synthesis workflows, and supporting technology transfer. The position involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams from academia, national laboratories and industry on advanced synchrotron X-ray, electron microscopy characterization, interfacial analysis, and full-cell prototyping.
**Position Requirements**
+ Recent or soon-to-be completed (typically within the last 0-5 years) in Materials Science, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Condensed Matter Physics, or a closely related field.
+ Demonstrated experience in materials synthesis, processing, and electrochemical characterization of cathode materials for lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and other advanced battery systems.
+ Active participation in collaboration with partners on multi-scale characterization, scaling up and cell prototyping.
+ Proven ability to disseminate research findings with scientific papers, patents and presentations.
