VP, Maintenance and Building Management

Sonoma, California LMC.

Job Description

Our client is building a next-generation platform to solve one of the biggest gaps in smart building technology:
Getting real-time controls data into the hands of the people who actually need it. technicians. br>
By connecting legacy building systems like Niagara directly into an open API and data layer, they enable predictive maintenance, smarter dispatch, and automated workorder management.

The approach is service-first, field-focused, and deeply technical, designed to cut through bloated workflows and make things work where they matter most.

To lead this effort, our client is hiring a hands-on VP of Solutions, a foundational technical leader who will personally deliver integration projects in the early stages and build the team and systems needed to scale delivery over time. In the first year, this person will be the go-to expert for integrating legacy building controls systems with the client’s unified data platform. You'll spend time onsite, sometimes in a hospital, sometimes at a cold storage facility, digging into servers, figuring out how to extract usable data, and building the APIs that make it flow. < r>
You'll work closely with the founding team and engineering leadership, helping to shape the platform itself by informing key architectural decisions and surfacing edge cases from the field.

It’s not just about writing code; it’s about understanding the complex reality of building systems and translating that into scalable, repeatable solutions.
As integration projects increase in volume and complexity, this person will step into a leadership role—building out a team of field-deployed data analysts and integration engineers, defining operational playbooks, and ensuring high-quality execution across dozens of customer sites. < r>
This role is ideal for someone who has been a strong back-end or data engineer, who has found themselves stepping up to lead because no one else could get the job done. You understand the full lifecycle of an integration project, from physical equipment to normalized cloud data, and you know how to get it done without drama.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical experience in systems integration and a strong working knowledge of building automation environments. For example, you've worked with platforms like Niagara and understand modern and legacy infrastructure constraints.

You've built APIs, designed data flows, and solved messy, real-world problems.

you figure it out, ship it, and then improve it.

You've probably led small engineering teams or integration projects before, not because you set out to be a manager, but because you were the most capable person in the room.

6 to 12 successful integrations delivered across a range of cloud and on-prem systems.
~ A reliable, scalable method for getting controls data into the platform’s API. < r>~ A small but capable field team recruited, trained, and delivering value.
~ Technical and operational processes documented, tested, and ready to scale.
~ Strong feedback loops established between field, product, and engineering.

Bonus: Performance-based
Equity: The smart building space is full of dashboards. What’s missing is actionable data delivered at the right time to the right people. This team is building that, and the integrations led by this role make it all work. < r>
This isn’t a job for someone who wants to manage from afar. Someone who knows how to make legacy systems talk to modern platforms wants to turn that into a category-defining business.
