In this position, you'll provide advice and legal support to businesses of various size and maturity. Clients typically need help with entity selection and formation, contracts review and negotiation, mergers and acquisitions, employee handbooks and more.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the entity formation process, ensuring all legal requirements are met
- Oversee corporate governance matters, providing expert advice and guidance
- Review a variety of contracts to ensure they are legally sound and beneficial to the organization
- Negotiate contracts to secure advantageous terms and conditions for the organization
- Utilize Case Management Software for effective organization and tracking of legal cases
- Operate Adobe Acrobat and other Document Management tools to maintain and organize important legal documents
- Prepare and review legal briefs, providing comprehensive legal advice
- Execute conveyancing processes, ensuring all legal procedures are correctly followed.

**Pay Range** : $3,000 - $5,000 for a 3-credit hour course. Pay rate is dependent upon (a) the number of courses taught, (b) the type of courses taught (e.g. undergraduate, graduate), and (c) the education level held by the lecturer. This position is Exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions.
**Work Location** : Determined by course modality: On-campus, online, or hybrid. Remote teaching opportunities may be available under certain conditions.
**Summary**
The College of Business and Administration ( at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) will establish and maintain a pool of **Lecturers in** **Business Law** from which future appointments to temporary, non-tenure track positions will be made. Appointments are part-time (less than 50% time) and will be made semester-by-semester.
This position will teach classes in the areas of _basic business law and accounting ethics_ . Classes may be on-campus, online, or hybrid.
This is a revolving Lecturer Pool for the College of Business. If there is a course opening and your qualifications match a course and the minimum requirements, you may be contacted at that time.

**Essential Functions**
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
+ Provides instruction to undergraduate/graduate students both in-person and online courses.
+ Maintains, develop and schedules student learning experiences to achieve desired learning outcomes.
+ Plans, develops, and implements evaluation tools to assess student process towards course learning objectives.
+ Be familiar with learning management systems, such as Canvas.
+ Other duties as determined by the College of Business.
**Qualifications**
+ Education:
+ A Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school is required.
+ A terminal degree (e.g. PhD, DBA, JD) is preferred.
+ Experience:
+ At least one year of practice experience in one year of practice experience in an area of business law or a closely related field is required.
+ Prior and relevant teaching experience is preferred.
+ Relevant industry experience that includes current engagement in professional activities is preferred.
Because this appointment is temporary in nature, you will not be eligible to receive all of the benefits normally provided to faculty under the standard University of Colorado benefits programs ( . You are not eligible to receive paid vacation leave, medical, or retirement benefits. However, you are eligible to accrue sick leave at 0.034 hours of sick leave per hour worked.

In addition, responsibilities related to maintaining firm and client information are to be adhered to by all employees. This includes complying with the firm's information security policies, protecting firm assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference, and reporting security events or potential events or other security risks to management.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required; JD or Master's degree is a plus.
- Three to five years of experience working for a law firm, financial institution or other professional services firm.
- Experience with communication at the Partner/Executive level.
- An ability to handle time-sensitive requests from multiple lawyers, across time zones, and to generate quality work product in a fast-paced environment.

- Excellent writing/editing, proofreading, grammar and research skills (a writing and editing test is required)
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
