**Compensation & Benefits

Role Summary
We are seeking a versatile and enthusiastic Food Service Specialist to support xAI's food and beverage operations in an entry-level role. This position involves assisting with food preparation, customer service, cleaning, and inventory tasks, with flexibility to switch between culinary, hospitality, and support duties as directed by the Hospitality Supervisor or Chef. The Food Service Specialist will contribute to a welcoming dining experience in our corporate caf and breakrooms, ensuring high standards of quality and safety. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with food and beverage preparation, including snacks, meals, and drinks, adhering to xAI's quality and sanitation standards
- Support the maintenance of clean and organized dining areas, including caf spaces, breakrooms, and beverage stations
- Execute catering functions for meetings and events, including setup, service, and breakdown of various service types
- Follow proper product rotation and storage practices to comply with California food safety requirements

This is an on-call non-benefited position with varying hours 7 days per week from 6am to 7:30pm. Pay rates for Union positions are set in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with SEIU Local 521. Each position has a total of six steps, Step 1 (entry level) through Step 6 (15 years of employment with the organization). Union staff are promoted from Step 1 to Step 2 upon their one-year anniversary. The current Step 1 rate for this position is $6.33/hr, and the current Step 6 rate for this position is 29.07/hr. In addition to our competitive salaries, we pay a shift differential for certain shifts in our 24-hour programs as follows: (Only 1 differential -whichever is highest will apply at a time).
- 6% additional pay for overnight (NOC) shift from 11 pm to 7 am
- 4.5% additional pay for evening shift from 5:30 pm to 10:59 pm
- 4.5% additional pay for weekend shifts from 12:01 am on Saturday thru 11:59pm on Sunday
Principal Duties And Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and/or participate in the implementation and delivery of any or all appropriate food systems to meet licensing, payor and other regulatory health and safety standards.
- Provide menu planning, preparation, set up, and service/delivery of meals and snacks.
- Coordinate and perform activities which maintain proper food supplies and storage.
- Perform basic cleaning, such as washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen, dining room, bathrooms, office, and the exterior area using a variety of manual and motorized equipment.
