Responsibilities

  • Operate variety of vehicles including pickup trucks, sprinter vans, 16' box trucks, 20' box trucks, 24' box trucks, 26' box trucks, 14' flatbeds, 16' flatbeds, 20' flatbeds, 24' flatbeds, 20 and 24' flatbeds with piggyback forklifts attached
  • Unload material safely and accurately onto jobsites (commercial and residential) without damage to customer property or damage to product
  • Load trucks using order sheets and securing product to ensure accuracy and safe transit
  • Any task deemed necessary by Logistics Manager
  • Pickup lumber returns from ground to chest level onto bed of flatbed
  • Operate propane and electric sit-down forklifts

Education/Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • CDL class A or B
  • Maintain a valid driver's license
  • Regularly lift/carry/move up to 50lbs. and may have to occasionally lift up to 80lbs.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, bend, reach, grip, push, pull, lift, climb, carry, and walk throughout Yard/Warehouses
  • Safely operate all equipment
    • Could include sweeper, skid steer, order picker ranging from 8-30 feet in the air, forklift, pickup trucks (with and without snowplow), flatbeds, box trucks, vans, and SUVs.
  • Ability to work outside in ALL weather conditions
  • Effectively communicate information to customers/management/other team members through radios or in person
  • Recognize and distinguish safety alarms and alert signals
  • Identify, recognize, and respond to any safety/hazardous situations
  • Assist customers with a smile
    • Including moving swiftly/jogging with a sense of urgency to waiting customers across our Yard/Warehouses

About the role

The CDL Driver I will perform duties associated with transporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste between Reworld facilities and the client's sites. Drivers will have the opportunity to operate a variety of manual transmission equipment including vacuum tankers, vacuum trucks, vans, flatbeds, and roll offs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Driver will be expected to transport and deliver our windows and doors to our dealers, distribution centers and/or construction job sites using a tractor-trailer. The products are built in Marion, OH. This position requires a wide range of skills from practicing safe driving and delivery to top-notch customer service. This is a hands-on delivery driving position and will be OTR during the week and some Saturdays may be required based on business needs. This position is a Domicile driver position Working out of Gary, Indiana (Drop Lot).
  • Safely assist in the loading and unloading of the product to customer's location and/ or return products. (Driver will be required to handle the windows and doors)
  • Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of windows and doors of varying weights
  • Safely drive truck and trailer to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations
  • Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speed in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in tight loading dock areas
  • Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including driver E logs, fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle
  • Able to answer questions regarding packing lists, invoices, packaging, and material content. If unable to answer specific questions, direct customer to appropriate contact
  • May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
  • Have an acceptable accident and moving violation Motor Vehicle Record
  • 2 years commercial truck driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
  • Ability to read, write and perform simple mathematical calculations with general mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, read road signs, maintain electronic logs, and safety control devices, etc.
  • Ability to follow instructions and take directions via on-board computer system and by phone and e-mail

Completes pre and post trip inspections, driver’s logs and complies with all other vehicle policy and DOT requirements;

Provide general maintenance in the field; 

Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:  


 

Specific vocational preparation including classroom safety training, on-the-job training and essential experience gained on other jobs; 

Language proficiency: understand English at a level to comprehend safety training and respond to instructions in emergency situations; 

Valid driver’s license, CDL Class A and other requirements of company’s driving policy required when driving company vehicle or using personal vehicle on company business; 

Smartphone required for Electronic Logging Device; 

Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) may be required; 

Must be knowledgeable in the operation of emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers; 

Experience operating a vacuum truck; 

Working knowledge of operating equipment used in wet and dry vacuums.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:  


 

Specific vocational preparation including classroom safety training, on-the-job training and essential experience gained on other jobs; 

Language proficiency: understand English at a level to comprehend safety training and respond to instructions in emergency situations; 

Valid driver’s license, CDL Class A and other requirements of company’s driving policy required when driving company vehicle or using personal vehicle on company business; 

Smartphone required for Electronic Logging Device; 

Federal Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) may be required; 

Must be knowledgeable in the operation of emergency equipment, such as fire extinguishers; 

Experience operating a vacuum truck; 

Working knowledge of operating equipment used in wet and dry vacuums.

Key Responsibilities:  


 

Act as safety representative responsible for safety policies and procedures of both the company and the customer, including hands-on information regarding operations, safety, equipment, emergency response and administrative functions; 

Hands-on operation vacuum equipment and hydroblasting equipment; 

Operation of special equipment, such as Ultra High-Pressure pumps; 

Operate equipment by energizing the pumping equipment and/or any specialized hydroblasting and/or chemical cleaning equipment, vacuum trucks and cutting equipment being used on the job; 

May be required to examine surface cleaned to ensure conformance to company and customer specifications; 

Perform routine maintenance on company equipment being used on the job;
