This job implements and administers strategic activities related to client retention, growth, and profitability of existing accounts within the assigned market. Responsible for market management (i.e., awareness and management of external distribution channel relationships, competition, media and development of overall market/region strategies). **This role is looking for someone who has leadership experience along with experience with TPA, Stop loss, and self funded clients.**
**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Understand and utilize economic, financial, market and industry segment data to accurately diagnose business strengths and weaknesses, identify key issues and implications for potential strategies and plans.
+ Utilize appropriate financial strategies and systems to achieve financial goals while managing risk to the organization.
+ Forecast and achieve annual retention goals and objectives to ensure growth and profitability goals are met or exceeded.
+ Analyze risk and initiate actions that balance risk and profitability to achieve team profitability and client satisfaction.
+ Continuously monitor and maintain knowledge of the market and competition.
+ Develop new potential markets and grow existing business for the Organization.
+ Influence and build effective relationships with business partners (i.e. customers, peers, and Producers).
+ Develop and maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants, brokers, and peers.
+ Partner with Distribution Administration to develop and/or strengthen the Organization's relationships with key distribution channels and partners.
+ Provide input to and execute on the Organization's distribution strategy.
+ Manage profitability; effective risk and underwriting actions; guide sales of products and services that result in solutions that create value for the client and sustainable profit for the Organization.
+ Implement and administer strategic activities related to retaining and growing sales within assigned market, including setting goals for enrollment, profitability, and cross-selling.
+ Serve as a coach for the staff.
+ Provide the leadership necessary to motivate and develop the account management personnel to achieve and/or exceed sales / retention goals and profitability within assigned market.
+ Continuously raising expectations to achieve goals while upholding organizational values and standards and tracking progress towards goals.

**QUALIFICATIONS:**
**Required**
+ Bachelor's Degree OR 4 years equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of Degree.
+ 5 years of sales experience in health- or insurance-related field
+ 5 years Health Insurance experience in applicable market segment
+ State-specific Producer License Life, Accident & Health are required or must be obtained within 45 days of hire

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop leads and identify opportunities for new sales in Colorado
  • Research and track upcoming solicitations, Capital Improvement Programs, Bond Programs, Master Plans and other resources to determine opportunities in key market segments
  • Assist Area Manager in developing short, mid, and long-range goals, business plan and strategic plan
  • Maintain CRMS system with information relating to leads, pursuits and client info
  • Assist in developing responses to solicitations, presentations and area reports
  • Attend conferences, events, client meetings/presentations and other meetings as needed to promote/represent Vanir, develop relationships or support business development and marketing efforts
  • Assist in identifying potential sub-consultants, partners or team members, by conducting interviews, obtaining information on firms/individuals and tracking opportunities for collaboration
  • Participate in interviews, sales meetings/presentations, and strategy preparation
  • Assist Area Manager in overseeing and leading consultants and operation staff in business development efforts
  • Facilitate the identification and research of potential strategic clients, competitors, and teaming partners
  • Partners with Corporate Marketing in the preparation of the Areas interview teams for client interviews (liaise with Corporate Marketing team on the preparation of interview materials), sales meetings/presentation, and strategy preparation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with Business Development within the General Contractor, Architecture and/or Engineering industries required
  • Bachelors in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or other related Field
  • Knowledge of the Construction, Architecture, Engineering industries
  • 8-10+ years of local experience in the commercial construction industry
  • Must have excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in Business Development/Sales
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to travel 35% of the time

Job Description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading and executing the companys strategic business development initiatives. This role involves identifying market opportunities, developing relationships with potential clients, and driving growth within the Water Resource, Power Generation, Mining, and Industrial & Commercial Markets. The Business Development Manager will oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive business development and marketing strategies and collaborate with other departments to achieve business goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategic business development plans and objectives to support the company's growth and market share objectives, in coordination with senior management.

Lead market research efforts to identify trends, market needs, and potential clients, translating insights into actionable business opportunities.

Establish and nurture relationships with key industry players, potential clients, and partners to expand business opportunities.

Assist in the preparation of bids, proposals, and presentations, ensuring they align with company standards and client expectations.

Oversee the entire sales cycle, from lead generation to closing deals.

Represent the company and actively participate at industry events, conferences, and networking events to promote the companys services and capabilities.

Collaborate with the marketing department to develop and execute marketing strategies that support business development objectives.

Monitor and analyze sales and marketing activity against goals, adjusting strategies as necessary to achieve targets.

Travel to meet with and market our capabilities with current and potential clients and engineers.

Report on business development activities, progress towards goals, and potential challenges to the executive team.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Requirements

Proven ability to develop and execute business development strategies, with a strong track record of achieving revenue targets.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Deep understanding of market research, sales, and negotiating principles.

Knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting the business and organization.

Possess strong relationships with clients and engineers in the heavy civil industry.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

At least seven years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field within the construction, engineering, or similar sectors.

Candidates that accept an offer of employment are required to undergo and successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. This exam is essential to ensure that all potential employees meet the necessary health and fitness standards for the role. The examination includes a series of tests and evaluations conducted by a certified medical professional to assess overall physical health, identify any potential medical conditions that could interfere with job performance, and verify that the candidate is capable of safely performing the essential duties of the position.

We are looking for a dynamic Business Development Manager to help drive growth, build strategic partnerships, and help lead our brand into its next phase of expansion.

Position Overview

The Business Development Manager will drive revenue growth across all markets by supporting the Managing Partner / EVP of Growth in driving deal flow, expanding client relationships, and managing proposal development and marketing initiatives. This is a high-impact role that requires a leader with a strong track record in B2B sales and marketing. Youll guide and manage a small but growing team and work closely with the executive leadership team to shape the company's trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development :

  • Research opportunities, coordinate meetings, update CRM, and keep leadership up to speed on active business development efforts
  • Lead end-to-end proposal writing process, including strategy, content creation, pro forma development, and submission
  • Refine proposal and pitch presentation assets to ensure quality, coherence and clarity across all submissions
  • Assist with relationship management across key prospects, clients, and partners
  • Identify new revenue streams and optimize existing ones across our diverse property portfolio
  • Support the development and execution of marketing strategies to enhance lead generation and brand awareness
  • Collaborate on digital marketing campaigns, social media presence, email outreach, and content marketing
  • Support internal marketing efforts to reinforce culture and drive awareness of new opportunities
  • Track KPIs, monitor trends, and adjust tactics to meet goals

Project Management:

  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and internal coordination across business development efforts
  • Ensure all proposals, campaigns, and other business development initiatives meet required deadlines
  • Maintain regular communication with the EVP / Managing Partner to prioritize tasks and align on goals

Team Management:

  • Guide and manage a growing, high-performance sales and marketing team

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in sales, marketing, and/or business development, with at least 2 years in a manager role
  • Proven track record of driving growth and closing B2B deals
  • Experience in mobility/parking, commercial real estate, and/or hospitality industries is preferred
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
  • Adept in PowerPoint and creative design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) to help produce presentations, marketing materials, etc.
  • Experience with digital marketing and CRM tools is a plus
  • Analytical mindset with a bias for action
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Willingness to travel (up to 2x per month) for client meetings, site visits, or
  • industry events
