A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A COMMERCIAL TRUCK DRIVER
You are the hero that transports our building materials in a timely manner along your designated route. You are our ambassadors as you also check-in with our clients on their experience with our service and handle any and all concerns with care. You load or unload building materials carefully, making sure the clients' items are kept intact. You ensure each delivery to the correct destination, as well as positively represent us at each stop. You are conscientious about keeping all necessary paperwork up-to-date and keeping vehicles and equipment maintained. And, of course, you are a competent and dependable driver who navigates the roads with the utmost concern to those around you. At the end of each shift, you feel accomplished and satisfied that you provide a courteous delivery to the customers we serve.
QUALIFICATIONS

Job Summary
The Local CDL Driver is responsible for the safe driving and delivery of customer materials within a 100-mile radius from the assigned facility. Duties include, but are not limited to, driving the company truck to deliver orders to customers, the loading and unloading of materials, and duties assigned in the facility. This position may also assist in the warehouse when not driving.
This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and designated as safety sensitive by the company. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required. This position must have the ability to accept responsibility for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.
Key Responsibilities:
• Drive and operate truck
• Deliver orders/materials/products to customers, both internal and external, while following DOT and internal safety rules using the company truck.
• Loading and unloading of company truck and securing loads.
• Maneuver heavy materials with the use of a forklift, pallet jack, and/or hand truck.
• Assist in the warehouse as needed.
• Comply with company and DOT policies and procedures, giving special attention to safety regulations.
• Complete pre-trip inspections, know how to maintain a legal and accurate logbook, retain fuel and toll receipts, maintain cleanliness of truck cab, document and log work/rest periods, and complete post-trip inspections.
• Check gauges and visual indicators for malfunctions, ensure locks on trailers are working properly, and conduct inspection of vehicle before and during trips to determine problems that may be occurring and promptly report all problems to supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Have a valid commercial motor vehicle operator's license issued by one state or jurisdiction.
• A Class A Commercial Driver's License (operating a CMV with a gross combination weight ratingof 26,001 or more pounds and towing a trailer of 10,001 pounds or more).
• Is not disqualified to drive a commercial motor vehicle under the rules in 49 CFR 391.15.
• Ability to speak and read English to converse with the public, understand traffic signs and signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records.
• Drive the vehicle safely.
• Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card.
• Pass a driver's road test or equivalent.
• Must be comfortable with making local deliveries with multiple stops.
• No more than two (2) moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
• No serious traffic violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
o Speeding 15 mph or more over the speed limit.
o Reckless driving.
o Improper or erratic lane change.
o Following too closely.
o Driving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) without a CDL or without a CDL in possession.
o Driving a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) without the proper class license and or endorsements.
o Texting or using a hand-held mobile device while driving a CMV.
o Violating state or local laws relating to motor vehicle traffic control arising in connection with a fatal accident.
• No preventable accidents while operating a CMV in the last three (3) years.
• No preventable DOT recordable accidents (collisions resulting in disabling damage and/or immediate medical treatment away from the scene) while operating a CMV in the last five (5) years.
• No preventable accident resulting in a fatality or catastrophic injury in driving history (commercial motor vehicle).
• No positive or refused drug or alcohol test in the previous five (5) years and must have fully completed a DOT recognized Substance Abuse Program, as well as return to duty testing and all prescribed follow-up testing for said violation.
• Must currently live within 60 miles of the assigned facility or willing to establish a residence within 60 miles by 90 days from date of hire. Permanent residence is defined as "your main, and regular residence (home) at a fixed address". It is the location you report to the government (W2, tax returns, census, passport, etc.) as your "home". Your permanent residence is the location you have the intention of returning to as your primary residence.
• Ability to operate a forklift.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Class A - minimum of 12 months verifiable experience working in a full-time tractor/trailer driving position in the previous three (3) years or two (2) years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last five (5) years.
• Must be at least 23 years of age.

Clean Harbors in Seymour CT is seeking a Class A CDL Driver- Hazmat to operate a variety of heavy and light duty trucks/work equipment at our customer sites; some of the vehicles operated include vacuum trucks, Cuscos, guzzlers, and roll offs. This role is responsible for performing driving and non-driving duties on and off customer sites associated with hazardous waste clean-up.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner
- Operate commercial trucks and assist field laborers when needed (team atmosphere where everyone helps)
- Operate a variety of Class A trucks
- Loading and unloading of trucks
- Manual labor on site to ensure fulfillment of customer needs
- Proper placarding of vehicles to meet Company and DOT requirements/regulations
- Maintain daily logs, time sheets, and various reports
- Follow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rules
- Safely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirements
- Safely observe all corporate operating guidelines and procedures
- Observe all company environmental health and safety operating guidelines
- Performs other duties as assigned
- By position, ability to be on call for emergency response on rotating basis every other week
- By position, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, and the handling of hazardous materials
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:- Valid Class A CDL
- Ability to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment
- Ability to use various mobile devices
- Perform physical functions per job requirements
- Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by position
- Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.
- Commercial driver experience
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsement
- Previous Hazmat experience
- Ability to operate a manual transmission
- Previous manual labor experience
