We're seeking a candidate with strong HVAC experience who is ready to help maintain, install, and repair essential systems in a one-of-a-kind work environment.
Position Summary
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC/R) throughout the Zoo. This role is vital to maintaining optimal climate conditions for both animal habitats and guest/employee facilities.
Essential Functions
- Maintain, repair, and install HVAC systems including air conditioning, refrigeration, pumps, and heating systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure maximum performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC/R issues and operational irregularities.
- Replace or repair components including compressors, fans, motors, thermostats, sensors, valves, and pumps.
- Perform emergency repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate records through a work order system.
- Operate Zoo vehicles and equipment as related to HVAC work.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and zoo policies.
Qualifications
- Certification: Universal EPA Certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of commercial or hospitality HVAC experience.
- Availability: Able to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and during special events or emergencies.
- Skills: Strong in troubleshooting, mechanical diagnostics, safety, equipment maintenance, and customer service.
- Climate Tolerance: Able to work outdoors in varying weather typical of South Florida.
- Lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
- Work in high humidity and heat typical of South Florida.
