**Job Summary:**
The Rehabilitation Technician assists therapists and/or therapy assistants as assigned. Primary duties include routine cleaning, quality control checks, room set-up, inventory ordering, preparing patients and equipment for treatment, assistance with patient care, and related documentation.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Communicates with patients, visitors and all other customers in accordance with organization guidelines. Communicates with therapists and/or therapy assistants, as well as other team members, regarding patient care.
+ Performs routine functions in patient care databases and systems, including electronic medical records.
+ Assists therapists and assistants with patient care as needed.
+ Maintains adequate department supplies within budget as directed by leadership.
+ Performs cleaning and quality control checks, temperatures checks, whirlpool cultures, and other items as delegated by leadership.
+ Completes record keeping and other tasks assigned by leadership. Assists with transportation of patients according to therapist's instructions, as needed, using proper technique and equipment.

• Reviews charts and analyzes clinical record documentation in order to approve services that meet clinical review criteria.

• Conducts ongoing activities which monitor established quality of care standards in the participating provider network and for other clinical staff.

• In states where required, refers all cases that an approval cannot be rendered to the Physician Clinical Reviewer.  In States where allowed, will make denial determinations as a specific case warrants.

• Converses with medical office staff in order to obtain additional pertinent clinical history/information; notifies of approvals and denials, giving clinical rationale.

• Provides optimum customer service through professional/accurate communication while maintaining NCQA and health plans required timeframes.

The Experience You’ll Need:

**Job Summary and Qualifications**
1. Responsible for clinical management of the patient.
2. Assures satisfaction of customers (patients, visitors, physicians and staff)
3. Participates and understands Quality Management activities.
4. Demonstrates effective communication skills.
5. Demonstrates understanding of hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
6. Promotes cost effective unit operations.
7. Documents care utilizing the appropriate tools.
8 Maintains competencies in clinical areas and is responsible for professional growth and development.
9. Complies with professional, regulatory, governmental and departmental standards.
10. Supervises students, (optional)
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an AMA accredited school of physical or occupational therapy
Graduate of an AMA accredited school of physical or occupational therapy assistant
Speech therapy graduate of an AMA accredited school and ASHA certified
LICENSURE:
Required: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Virginia
Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care
EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in an acute care facility preferred; new graduates considered
ESSENTIAL Includes all practice and performance standards designated on the attached
FUNCTIONS: performance appraisal form unless otherwise indicated
