Candidates should have over 5 years of construction experience, with expertise in interiors, mechanical, electrical, civil, or utility services. Previous Estimating or Bid Coordination experience preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to Client RFPs and attend site visits to assess project scope and logistics.
  • Review Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing drawings to develop Scope Narratives.
  • Establish project-specific Bid Lists and identify new subcontractors to expand the Master Bid List.
  • Draft Subcontractor RFPs, organize site visits, and manage the bid process from start to finish.
  • Propose Value Engineering Alternates, securing cost estimates as required.
  • Develop preliminary Site Logistics Plans using Bluebeam and preliminary Project Schedules in MS Project.
  • Analyze bids and perform comprehensive Bid Leveling to ensure accurate scope and costs have been provided.
  • Communicate project risks with potential mitigations.
  • Lead regular meetings with stakeholders, documenting progress and updates.
  • Prepare formal GMP and Lump Sum Proposals for executive review and submission to the Client.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple subcontractors and vendors effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative on projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 preferred, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and Bluebeam.
  • Knowledge of MEP drawings and the ability to suggest improvements for efficient project execution.
  • Valid Driver's License and Automobile required.
Required Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant construction industry experience.
  • Previous Estimating or Bid Coordination experience preferred.

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to join our construction team as a Junior Estimator.   • Assist finance team with closeout and balancing of all projects upon completion
  • Liaise with all internal departments to review and assist in maintaining overall budget (FF&E, Equipment, Materials etc)
Qualifications:
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering or related fields.
  • 5 + years experience in a cost management role on commercial and retail real estate or related fit-out construction projects
  • Retail and Luxury Retail experience is preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction estimating and/or quantity surveying
  • Strong technical experience with Excel and estimating/take off software
  • Strong oral and written communicator adept at presenting in large meetings

Position Overview

The Senior Estimator is responsible for gathering details and compiling data to estimate all production costs according to bid documents.

Weeks Marine is headquartered in Cranford, New Jersey, and manages a network of regional offices in Louisiana, Texas, Hawaii, Guam, Ontario, and Nova Scotia.

Location

This position will be located in Weeks Construction Cranford, NJ.

Regional travel for pursuits may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze plans and specifications
  • Perform site visit(s) and meets with owners and designers if required
  • Prepare take-offs
  • Prepare budgetary estimates
  • Establishes means and methods of construction and performs engineering analyses to support

means and methods

  • Prepare costs analysis for certain or all portions of the projects
  • Solicit quotes from subcontractors and vendors
  • Prepare construction schedule and perform cash-flow analyses
  • Close out bids and assist in preparation of supporting documentation
  • From time to time, visits projects, and prepares cost analyses

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Heavy Civil Marine Construction with at least 3 years in estimating preferred
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology/Management required
  • Proficient skills in standard computer software packages
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • This position requires fluent use of the verbal and written English language

  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.

  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary

Base Compensation: $117,000/yr - $54,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
