The Role

The Responsibilities

  • Lead company-wide communications across key internal channels: intranet, executive messaging, global town halls, internal campaigns, and culture initiatives.

  • Partner with HR to support DEI, employee engagement, and culture-building efforts.

The Individual

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field; Master's degree preferred.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $165,000 and is bonus eligible. In this remote role, you will be based in the Bay area and report into our Head of Public Relations.

You Will

  • Help tell the Waymo story and help communicate corporate, business, safety, and some new market news to external audiences.
  • Lead communications strategy for crisis comms and response. Support additional comms announcements around new markets, business news, and safety comms. Includes narrative development, writing, and execution.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with media, conference organizers, researchers, and other external industry stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with the rest of the PR team as well as key cross functional teams including Safety, Legal, Partnerships, Public Affairs, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and other internal teams.
  • Be responsible for some executive communications, including developing talking points, FAQs, and presentations.

You Have

  • 10+ years experience in communications/public relations.
  • Experience developing and executing on communications strategy for crisis response, business news, safety comms.
  • Very strong writing and communication skills.
  • Experience in a fast paced and highly collaborative environment and ability to multi-task with a high bar for detail.
  • Existing relationships with business, tech media and event organizers.

We Prefer

  • Experience in the technology or automotive industries (in-house or agency).
  • Experience in Corporate or Crisis PR roles specifically at tech companies or agencies.
  • Experience launching and building communications strategy for new products or new markets.
  • Bachelor's degree, focus in marketing, communications, journalism.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level.
