Description
We are looking for an experienced Tax Accountant to join our corporate team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role involves managing various tax compliance processes, including sales/use tax, property tax, franchise tax, and excise tax filings, as well as contributing to audits and special projects. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file multi-state and local sales/use tax returns by compiling and analyzing monthly sales tax data.
- Manage new state tax registrations and organizational registrations as required.
- Research and respond to tax notices from various authorities to ensure compliance.
- Handle ancillary tax filings, including personal property taxes and unclaimed property compliance.
- File Heavy Highway Use tax returns and quarterly Excise tax forms with precision.
- Prepare and submit various census reports on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Calculate and file franchise tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support external tax firms by preparing annual tax schedules for federal and state income tax filings.
- Assist with audits and contribute to special tax-related projects.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to meet organizational goals.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in tax accounting, with a focus on sales/use tax and property tax.
- Proficiency in NetSuite is preferred.
- Solid understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
