SUMMARY
Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for an adjunct faculty member to provide high-quality, learner-centered instruction for students enrolled in Culinary-related coursework at any KCKCC location while supporting the institution's mission, vision, and strategic plan.
This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position are accepted on an ongoing basis due to the increasing demand for courses in this subject area.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Provide formal instruction and leadership in the Culinary Arts program using learner-centered pedagogy.
- Ensure curriculum, resources, and materials are updated with industry standards and practices.
- Specify, select, operate, and maintain equipment and/or training modules required to support the specific course(s) taught within departmental budget constraints.
- Ensure program equipment stays current and on trend with the industry.
- Work with program personnel on the departmental budget.
- Maintain and update course syllabi addressing targeted student abilities, specific competencies, textbook requirements, grading/assessment methodology, course scheduling, and/or other items as required.
- Prepare course lesson plans utilizing the approved program syllabi.
- Demonstrate commitment to the program, division, and total institution by timely attendance and submission of required grades, attendance, or other miscellaneous reports to the administration.
- Help to recruit and market the program to potential students.
- Collaborate on textbook section and educational resources to support the program learning with program personnel.
- Complete all assessment activities per the Office of Assessment's guidelines, including program review and documentation.
- Participate in industry-based advisory board meetings in support of a college-level program. The advisory board must meet a minimum of twice per year.
- Assist in student job placement and follow-up.
- Ensure students are following appropriate safety practices.
- Participate in regular professional development.
- Participate in regular program meetings with program faculty and staff.
- Serve on institutional committees as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strong computer and technology skills.
- Able to work professionally and collaboratively with industry partners.
- Knowledge of the latest industry technology and ability to integrate the technology into the program.

Job OverviewWe are excited to invite a dynamic and experienced Project Leader to guide a student project at Rochester Prep High School for the 2025–2026 school year. This role is crucial in providing hands-on opportunities for students to build skills, explore passions, and delve into career-aligned fields. As a Project Leader, you will:
- Design and facilitate engaging learning experiences.
- Support students in completing a culminating project or showcase.
- Expose students to real-world applications through guest speakers, field trips, and competitions.
This is a part-time position reporting to the school’s Student Talent Manager.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Design & Facilitation:
- Lead a group of students in a specialized project area during “Projects,” held on Tuesdays and Thursdays for one hour each day (August through June).
- Design and implement engaging, hands-on lessons aligned with the project theme.
- Support students in developing a culminating presentation, product, or performance.
- Prepare approximately 2 hours per week outside of student-facing time for lesson planning and coordination.
Extension Opportunities & Logistics:
- Research and coordinate potential field trips, guest speakers, and relevant external opportunities such as competitions or community events.
- Chaperone students for any off-site experiences related to the project.
- Ensure logistics, student safety, and communication protocols are followed during off-campus activities.
Family Communication:
- In partnership with the Student Talent Manager, establish clear communication with families about schedules, project updates, and any time commitments outside of the school day.
- Secure signed family permission forms as needed for participation in off-site activities.
Required:
- Experience in culinary arts, food preparation, or a related field.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt curriculum to limited kitchen facilities.
Preferred:
- Prior teaching experience at the high school level.
- Experience teaching in non-traditional or resource-unique environments.
- Food Handler’s Certification or ServSafe certification.
