Position Description
PingWind is seeking a knowledgeable and mission-driven Information Security Specialist to support cybersecurity operations and compliance for a U.S. Army system or program. This role will be responsible for implementing, assessing, and maintaining security controls in alignment with DoD cybersecurity regulations, Risk Management Framework (RMF), and Army-specific policies. The candidate will collaborate with system owners, engineers, and cybersecurity teams to identify, mitigate, and report security risks across classified and unclassified systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Typical Responsibilities/Tasks:
• Experience working with Army cybersecurity programs under NETCOM, ARCYBER, TRADOC, or PEO EIS.
• Knowledge of classified systems, cross-domain solutions, and secure enclave configurations.
• Implement and maintain information security policies, procedures, and standards in compliance with DoD 8140 / 8500.01 / 5200.1-R, and Army cybersecurity policy.
• Manage and execute the RMF lifecycle for Army information systems, including Security Assessment Plans (SAP), POA&Ms, and Authorization to Operate (ATO) packages.
• Conduct vulnerability scans using ACAS, apply mitigations, and track IAVA compliance.
• Apply and enforce DISA STIGs, system hardening, and patch management in coordination with system administrators.
• Assist with incident detection, response, and reporting in accordance with DoD Cyber Incident Handling Program.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including system security plans (SSP), risk assessments, contingency plans, and security test plans.
• Conduct periodic security audits, risk assessments, and control validation checks.
• Support cybersecurity training, awareness programs, and operational security (OPSEC) initiatives.
• Coordinate with ISSMs, ISSOs, and DAAs to ensure ongoing authorization, compliance, and reporting of system security posture.

The Department
The LifeRTC Information Security Team, led by the Head of Information Security, is dedicated to protecting the practice's digital and physical assets, as well as its global software and products. The Role
The Information Security Specialist, is a critical member of our Information Security team, reporting directly to the Head of Information Security. This is a technical role, focusing on implementing and managing solutions to assist our various teams across the practice helping increase our security posture and reduce our overall risk.
This role is expected to leverage their technical expertise to enhance our security posture, manage risks, and contribute to the overall information security strategy.

- Act as an escalation point for IT Security Analysts.
- Implement and manage technical security solutions within our Azure infrastructure and security monitoring systems.

Under administrative direction of the Bureau’s Information Security Officer the IT Security Specialist will be responsible for establishing and administering information security policies and practices, governance and reporting, training and awareness, vulnerability and risk assessment, remediation, business continuity and work closely with teams across the organization to implement a consistent security strategy. The IT Security Specialist will serve as subject matter expert on IT Security, identity, and access infrastructure; provide IT security architectural guidance; design security solutions; conduct IT risk assessments and recommend mitigation solutions, oversees multiple projects, supervises employees.
Under minimal direction of the Information Security Officer, the IT Security Specialist will be responsible for but are not limited to the tasks outlined below:

Serve as team lead in directing the agency’s data, network, and cybersecurity infrastructure. Plan, define, maintain governance and policies, standards, configuration, operating procedures and guidelines regarding security, identity, and access. Under the leadership of the department director and Information Security Manager, the Information Security Specialist I is responsible for performing day-to-day operational information security tasks, such as responding to alerts, assessing threats, and coordinating mitigation and remediation. Monitors, maintains, and improves systems and processes to improve security of enterprise networks, servers, endpoints, applications, and databases. Engages frequently in active threat hunting. Administers security-related enterprise systems. Performs security audits of systems and accounts. Is able to correlate information to detect, assess, and respond to threats, alerts, and incidents. Arranges and administers security measures to restrict unauthorized use of systems and databases. Investigates and determines cause of security incidents; coordinates/executes preventative and remediation measures. Performs ongoing vulnerability assessments including vulnerability scanning, reporting, threat identification, and coordination of mitigation and remediation related to networked devices and systems. Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in on-call rotation for after-hours alerts as member of Information Security Team.
