Associates in your area will look to you for leadership, direction, training, and support. You are accountable for merchandise availability, department standards, and financial performance of your area.

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.

Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from 0.35 per hour to 3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by greeting and answering their questions
  • Tour your area to ensure it meets our customer's expectations
  • Work hand-in-hand with team associates to get the job done
  • Prepare and plan for upcoming events that will impact your area
  • Ability to communicate, take direction at all levels, and turn it into action
  • Use basic math skills to maintain accurate inventory levels

Job Summary

The Application Development Engineer, working under moderate supervision, is responsible for the development of software applications by coding, testing, and maintaining application software. The role works closely with lead/senior engineers, teammates and other stakeholders, often in a SAFe Agile team, to ensure that moderate complexity software solutions meet business requirements and are delivered on time and within budget. The role works with technical mentors to ensure that best practices and standards are followed.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develops, modifies, and tests high-quality, moderate complexity programs, reports, shell scripts, and system interfaces that meet business requirements, ensuring standard processes are followed.
  • Collaborates with technical leads, other technology teams, and business stakeholders to understand business needs and technical requirements.
  • Performs coding and unit testing for custom developed or commercial software applications and implements effective business solutions and processes across a portfolio of applications to improve business operations.
  • Maintains and modifies programs currently in production to ensure they meet business requirements and run efficiently in the production environment.
  • Tests and/or scans code to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Identifies and resolves defects and code quality issues in a timely manner.
  • Participates in code reviews and adheres to coding standards and best practices.
  • Performs quality assurance functions including unit testing, system testing, integration testing.
  • Under moderate to minimal supervision, analyzes and troubleshoots technical issues in applications and provides timely resolution to ensure minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Participates in application maintenance activities as needed such as application upgrades, adherence to security protocols, and user support.
  • Keeps up to date with industry trends and developments in software engineering and related fields to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
Job Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience in Application Development or a related field.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and/or commensurate experience.
  • Certification as a Software Development Professional is desirable in applicable technologies.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Location

Hybrid defined as three (3) or more days per week in the office.

Technical Skills

An Application Development Engineer can support a variety of technologies and software solutions tailored for the insurance sector in use by Westfield that may include but are not limited to the list below:
  • Java, C++, Python, HTML5, CSS3, Struts (or similar MVC frameworks) and related tools
  • Integration technologies (REST API development, SOAP based web services)
  • Electronic Content Management tools
  • Database Management languages and tools (SQL, DB2)
  • Front-End Development tools
  • Software security technologies (encryption, authentication)
  • Mainframe technologies
