Job responsibilities

  • Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Think outside of the box and deliver simple solutions for complex problems
  • Modernize Athena's proprietary batch scheduling system while maintaining the current infrastructure
  • Build secure, high-quality production code that executes critical functions across multiple lines of businesses
  • Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex systems within JPMC standards
  • Ensure systems can be efficiently operated via metrics, monitoring, and operational tools
  • Proactively identify problems and take ownership over architecting solutions

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • Professional experience in system design, development, testing, and operational stability
  • Experience in Linux
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining production quality code
  • Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Strong communication skills and experience interfacing with clients
  • Experience in relational databases

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience working with distributed systems
  • Proficiency with one or more public cloud service providers

The Center for Nanoscale Materials (CNM) at Argonne National Laboratory is seeking postdoctoral researchers to work on distributed quantum computing. The project aims to develop superconducting qubit-based quantum processors and connect them via a campus-scale fiber-optic network. The postdocs will design and fabricate superconducting transmon qubits and microwave-optical quantum transducers and characterize the devices in a dilution refrigerator. **Job Qualifications:**
+ Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
+ Active and current TS/SCI clearance required.
+ Must have at least 8 years of space systems design experience.
+ Must have at least 5 years of experience in leading technical teams.
+ Experience includes full Systems Engineering, Architecture and SW development lifecycles (SDLC)
+ Manages projects to ensure proper use of SDLC techniques including requirement development, design, Agile/DEVSECOPS/CI/CD, QA/testing, documentation and end-user training.
+ Domain expertise in Satellite Command and Control, Mission Planning and Scheduling, Satellite Imaging systems, Space Situational Awareness, Network Management, AWS Cloud Computing, Object Oriented and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Distributed Computing/Virtualization and its application in Multi-Level Cyber Security (RMF, NIST 800-53, 800-171, PKI) Environments, Model Bases Systems Engineering/Architecture (MBSE/A), Cameo.
+ Design and development of large-scale cloud-based systems and applications.
+ Experience in the design and development of multi-threading.
+ Experience in multiple software languages, python, C/C++, Java are desirable.
+ Design and development of cloud technology: Containers, VMWare, Docker, Podman, AWS, AWS EKS
+ Perform network bandwidth analysis to define network hardware specifications.
+ Perform system capability decomposition into JIRA EPIC/Stories including definition and management of Acceptance Criteria.
+ Experience/knowledge of Open C3 Cosmos.
+ Grafana dashboards.
+ Experience/Knowledge of Spacecraft command/telemetry uplink/downlink path engineering and design including Ground networking, RF communications and NSA Type-1 encryption approaches
+ Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project and/or program leadership including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established project deadlines or milestones.
+ Must posses the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles; resolve unusually complex technical problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be a technical expert in one or more areas of engineering.
+ Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
+ Great interpersonal skills working in a team environment.
+ Demonstrated systems engineering experience in the entire lifecycle.
+ Experience preparing for and presenting at customer reviews.
+ Systems engineering expertise in ICDs, Requirements, CONOPs, Test, and system integration.
