Berger Transfer & Storage is seeking a DISTRIBUTION MANAGER to join our team in San Francisco! Our Distribution Manager is responsible for effectively leading the distribution center team to meet monthly and quarterly shipping goals as well as on-time performance metrics. This individual will drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, accuracy, delivery and cost while expanding the warehouse team capabilities in support of Berger's growth strategies.

Responsibilities for our DISTRIBUTION MANAGER include but are not limited to:

  • Focus and strive for successful completion of metrics including 95% on-time delivery, 90% delivery complete status and 10% product return rate.
  • Directing, training, coaching and motivating employees to create a high performing customer centric team that understands and supports departmental/company goals.
  • Trouble shooting and tracking concerns of electronic warehouse inventory system.
  • Manage all relevant vendor activities to insure best cost, quality and delivery.
  • In conjunction with the General Manager develop and manage budgets that support the needs of the business while minimizing operating expenses. Drive a minimum 15% Operating Margin.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment that is compliant with OSHA regulations and company policies.
  • Support initiatives to monitor and improve product quality enhancing customer satisfaction and reducing product returns.
  • Play a lead role as needed in future initiatives to offer retailers and consumers additional value added services.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications to apply for this role are:
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 2 or more years as a Warehouse Manager or Supervisor. Distribution experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work well with a team, manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced, constantly changing, high demand work environment
  • Strong problem solving and project management skills
  • Self-starter motivated by daily challenges
  • Must be able to demonstrate previous successful experience performing the following key skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products. Knowledge and ability to use typical office equipment (PC, calculator, fax machine, etc.)

    • Strong attention to detail.

Working Environment: At least a few hours a week working in the warehouse to check off items received versus items manifested.

- Implement Lean methodology and use the principals to lead continuous improvement with teams.

- Provide leadership and motivation for 20-30 direct report associates. Communicate effectively with associates and create an open communication style that fosters a collaborative work environment.

- Administer training, qualification, safety programs and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Communicate and administer policies and procedures in assigned area.

This position is accountable for enabling successful distribution of HSB's unique and vast tailored service capabilities into the marketplace, with an eye to bringing value to clients and driving sales and retention.
The position is specifically responsible for:
+ Successful delivery and penetration of HSB/Munich Re's technical/service capabilities (to include engineering, technology, and related insurance products) into the market with an aim to integrating customers into the HSB service ecosystem of insurance, engineering, and technology.
+ Distribution strategy for these capabilities: Examples, but not limited to: detailed execution plans in coordination with Profit Centers, goal setting for business development, marketing coordination, continued education of sales teams, standards and training of internal and external partners, client profiling of opportunities.
+ Expert consultation supporting sales and implementation for individual clients in support of Business Development around the assigned services.
+ Liaison duties to corporate product development teams about business and client needs, and effectiveness of capabilities in the market, so that products are developed in meaningful ways.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Technology, or related field or equivalent work experience.
- 10+ years of experience in the P&C Industry specifically working with business operations, business development or underwriting.
- 6 + years of combined experience working with technology implementation and business processes.
- 3 + more years of building business plans and conducting cost benefit analysis to determine viability of strategies.
- 5+ years of external client management experience particularly with large strategic partnerships.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent influencer with demonstrated successful experience in marshalling resources and bringing accountability to vendor and partnership management both internally and externally with key vendors and business partners
- Deep knowledge of P&C agent/broker and carrier distribution channels and product lines
- Possess the skills to navigate complex and ambiguous external partnerships and apply in CAD's business in a way that enables growth.
- Interpersonal/Relationship Management skills
- Project management skills and ability to drive results
- Consultative selling skills

As the Facilities/Distribution Manager, you will manage all policies and projects within the facility ensuring property workflow, organizational flow, and timely completion. In this role, you will also review project cost, monitor branch performance, oversee warehouse management, manage facility-related services, oversee inspections and risk assessments, handle HR issues as needed, manage relationships with external service providers, and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA. The ideal candidate for this role should have strong communication skills, proven knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and safety regulations.
