  • Clinicians are expected to perform procedures and manage patients typically handled by teams in urban settings. Mandatory certifications include ATLS/ACLS/PALS, with active utilization of expanded POCUS, intubation (both direct and video), central line placement, and chest tube insertion.
  • Flexible scheduling offers up to 144 hours per month, with a minimum of 120 hours for full-time status, accommodating PRN and part-time hours.
  • 12-hour shifts with single coverage, supported by APP during the day and solo doctor at night. Limited pediatric cases referred to specialty centers.
  • Equipped with 24/7 CT ultrasound, glide scopes, managing a trauma level 4, and averaging 13K annual visits with 49 total beds.
  • Predominantly nights and weekends with the possibility of daytime work for PTO coverage. APP primarily handles the fast track, aiding the main ED during busy periods.
  • Compensation is $275/hour for daytime and $280/hour for nights/weekends, offering professional liability insurance with tail included under 1099 status. Travel and lodging are covered.

**Description**
The Residency Program Director will lead the Stony Brook Emergency Medicine Residency Program, a three-year ACGME-accredited program that has trained top-tier emergency physicians since 1990. The incoming director will have the vision and leadership skills necessary to transition the program to a four-year curriculum, aligning with anticipated ACGME requirements.
This role reports to the Vice Chair of Education, the Department Chair, and the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education/DIO and provides oversight to Associate Program Directors (APDs) and Program Coordinators.
**Key Responsibilities**
**_Program Leadership & Compliance_**
+ Ensure compliance with ACGME requirements for residency programs
+ Lead continuous program improvement and innovation
+ Foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment
+ Oversee and optimize the curriculum development for the transition to a four-year program
+ Lead the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) and actively participate in the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC)

Minimum three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience. Minimum three years of experience as core faculty in an Emergency Medicine residency program. Demonstrated scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed publications. Ability to obtain and maintain a faculty appointment at Stony Brook University Hospital.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
Completion of a Medical Education Fellowship. Experience in curriculum design and program development. Proven leadership experience in residency program administration.

Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a High School graduate or equivalent required.
