General Summary

The Engineering Technician shall assist provide the customer with technical support and inspection services relating to maintenance, repair, or alteration of buildings, utilities, parking areas, roadways, and other work/projects on both leased and owned properties.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Utilize Facilities Management software to review estimates submitted by contractors for maintenance, repair, construction, and other work to assure conformance with customer requirements. Ensures that proposals are technically sound and in compliance with Army regulations.
- Performs technical review & evaluation of plans and reports required to be submitted by the contractor including: Preventative Maintenance Plans for building structures, Quality Assurance Plans, as-built drawings, shop drawing submissions, and change order requests.
- Reviews drawings and specifications developed by A/E firms for adherence to design requirements, code limitations, and civil, structural, architectural, and engineering fundamentals and principles.
- Prepares cost estimates, technical specifications, preliminary sketches, & scopes of work for the contract purchase of complex repair and construction items, designs, and plans for alterations, remodeling, and repairs to various types of facilities, machinery, and equipment, new construction, and the development of contracts with organizational policies and procedures.
- To include estimating the cost of manpower and material, estimating length of time the projects will require, determining and analyzing alternatives when appropriate.

This person will be the front-line support in assisting with technical issues throughout our business including remote users. We're looking for a self-starter who can work independently while prioritizing various tickets.
This position will be working 5 days a week onsite at our Delano, CA office.
Job Description
- Install and troubleshoot software - antivirus, firewall, Anti-Spyware, etc.
- Information System Hardware Configuration and Repair.
- Troubleshoot and repair broken or defective computer hardware ensuring the functionality of computers and computer related equipment throughout the organization Work with Vendors to perform repairs as needed.
- Computer Moves, Adds & Changes.
- Operating Systems Reloads.
- Install and configure software for The Wonderful Company based on the information systems policies and procedures.
- Assist with Network Administration including new user setup and removal, active directory moves, adds & changes, windows general troubleshooting.
- Printer maintenance - moves, adds, changes, toner/ink supply management.
- Mobile device management
- Troubleshoot and configure handheld Barcode scanners.
- Primary point of contact for helpdesk calls.
- Primary point of contact for chat support.
- Flexible schedule (some nights/weekends for events/projects; Longer shifts during peak production may be required).
- 40+ hour a week shift and an on-call schedule.
- A.A degree or degree from Technical Trade School and 1 to 2 years of experience in related field or equivalent combination education and experience.
- A+ Certification Preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Products - Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience with Oracle system a plus.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with all levels of staff members in an effective manner, exhibiting tact, enthusiasm, and patience.
- Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.

General Summary
Responsible for providing plant oversight for cost and engineering activities that facilitates the efficient progress of plant operations and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies. This position is based at the Solari facility located in Arvin, CA. This role supports material facilities in Bakersfield and the Eastern Sierras. Some travel is expected
Essential Job Accountabilities
Safety
- Ensure operations are compliant with MSHA, OSHA, and Granite policies
- Organize and deliver weekly safety meetings.
- Coordinate quarterly plant audits. Ensure findings are corrected.
- Work with plant foremen on maintaining daily Take-5, Job Site Inspections. Ensure employees have proper PPE. Ensure employees have the correct tools for the job.
- Partner with Safety Manager and Plant Superintendent to evaluate current safety culture.
- Ensure operations are compliant with all environmental and Granite policies.
- Develop staff on environmental awareness.
- Evaluate, develop, and execute improvements for environmental issues.
- Create culture that aligns with Granite's environmental goals.
- Coordinate/ Participate in environmental audits. Ensure findings are corrected.
- Participate in monthly stormwater and SWPPP inspections. Ensure findings are corrected.
- Produce weekly production cost reports. Distribute reports to management. Review with management, foremen and superintendent.
- Monthly inventory/cycle count entry.
- Work with management, superintendent, and foremen on maintaining spare parts. Understand each plant's critical spare parts.
- Manage stock item inventory. Monitor and evaluate material variances between actual and design.
- Evaluate, develop, execute capex improvements.
- Monitor fixed asset equipment costs and compare to budget.
- Develop annual cost budgets in conjunction with plant manager.
- Coordinate day-to-day operations to achieve production and cost goals.
- Production scheduling to achieve inventory demand and minimize inventory risk.
- Monitor plant performance and compare to budget.
- Develop long term planning in conjunction with plant manager.
- Develop a routine maintenance tracker for all equipment to track and ensure standards are maintained.
- Understand the union contracts and partner with labor relations and relevant Unions contacts.
- Monitor Capex improvements with foremen and superintendent. Assist in the execution on Capex improvements.
- Review Daily Quality Reports and take corrective action as needed.
- Communicate product balance to Quality team to ensure pit balance is maintained.
- Develop craft employees on the importance of quality. Ensure products are ethically produced and that the customer receives what they ordered.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or other related field required
- 3+ years of construction materials field experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of materials business
- Experience with Hot Mix Asphalt Plants
- Proven understanding of plant operations and mechanical requirement.
- Strong understanding of federal, state and local laws, policies and procedures
- Ability to work in high production environment and respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
- Demonstrated proficiency of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to establish relationships with agencies and represent Granite in a public forum
- Demonstrated public speaking and ability to communicate with management
