As a Project Engineer, you will perform engineering and project management duties on land development projects, prepare planning and design documents, and meet client needs from conception to completion. You will also coordinate with other Olsson teams, professional staff, technical staff, and clients. You may travel to job sites for observation and attend client meetings.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Prepares planning and design documents in appropriate engineering discipline.
+ Performs process design calculations, prepares cost estimates, and uses economic analyses for comparison of alternatives.
+ Assists with or develops project scope of work or portions of it; assists with or develops project schedule or portions of it; assists with completion of initiation paperwork; assists with budget reviews and schedules progress reports.
+ Coordinates projects with other Olsson teams; performs and coordinates design aspects of projects; directs team members on design tasks; maintains project records (correspondence, drawings, and files); informs project managers of progress and problems; coordinates with clients; attends client meetings.
+ Assists with marketing/business development; may help write proposals.
+ May serve as project manager on small projects.
+ Independently performs assignments on complex projects.
+ Coordinates assistant and associate professional staff and technical staff's work; may supervise student or technical staff.

Project assignment will be determined at time of offer, must be willing to work across Nebraska and other surrounding markets.

**Responsibilities**
Field Engineering:
- Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
- Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work
- Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages
- Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data
- Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets
- Assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA's)
- Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training
- Order and schedule material deliveries
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite
- Supervise field operations
Office Engineering:
- Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications and other contract documents
- Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations
- Assist Engineers to gather and prepare data for submittal or transmittal to the customer, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal use
- Participate in the preparation of purchase orders and subcontracts, performing minor solicitations and purchasing as requested
- Schedule maintenance and performing updates as directed by others
- Assist in the maintenance of basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), and memorandums
- Enter data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with jobsite management
- Assist in generating change orders and as-built data to be reviewed by the Project Manager
- Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations
Estimating:
- Assist in reviewing and analyzing historical data relative to the project, incorporating various productions and costs appropriate in preparation of a bid
- Complete a plan and specification review for an assigned project, assessing the risk areas and bringing them to the attention of the Senior Estimator
- Complete material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents
**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field of engineering or equivalent experience and education, required.
+ At least 2 years of experience in the construction field, preferably in the vertical construction markets.
+ Must have working knowledge and be able to direct the operations of at least these management systems: scheduling - CPM, unit man-hour performance, material control, estimating and subcontracts.
+ Experience with leadership and management of people, communication (verbal and written), planning and organization
